Damn cool shit.
I really miss the whole Playland schmear. I know it was creepy, but that was NYC to me as a boy in the late 70s.
Walkin' down the street, shakin' in my boots, hearing, "weed, ha-SHEESH, trips, fake ID?"
'Course, wouldn't want my daughter to see it.
You remember King Carol record shop that was around there? Maybe on 8th ave?
While I'm not necessarily a fan of theme-park Times Square, I don't really miss filthy, scary Manhattan, I must admit. I think nostalgia for it is a bit odd, but understandable - it's really nostalgia for when we were young and the city was full of possibilities and danger. Very exciting stuff.
That said - this website is killer diller - thanks Alex!
