[5] Yeah, but Sunset Strip has some deep personal stuff – the freebasing incident, his trip to Africa, stuff about his early days. “Live in Concert” may just be funnier, but I don’t know that its deeper than Sunset Strip.

4) Great story. I have plans on Saturday morning so it’s gunna be past my bed time which is a drag.

I think it is far superior to “Sunset Strip” which has its moments for sure but overall doesn’t have the same depth as “Live in Concert.”

AB: The right-holder only released it to us for screening because we were doing the Midnight movie. Our programmer said that it ran for like three YEARS in Times’ Square (during the bad old/good old days) at midnight, and then the Producer pulled it, with the intent of never screening it again.

The end of that bit you posted is hilarious…when he’s dancing the conga.

[1] Don’t watch it in Japan. People will be sitting rigid, eye-brows knitted, chins on fists, dutifully studying the brilliance of Pryor. Happens every time I see a Woody Allen flick here. Usually, I am the only one in the theater laughing.

[2] Isn’t that the one where he talks about his freebasing accident? That’s a great bit.

Pryor Live on the Sunset Strip is a pretty stunning comedy concert film, too. “Hey, Johnny Salami – whaddo I do?”
