was at the yard for the whole enchilada and it was just great, despite the heat. Watching Jetes joking from the dugout while Bernie, Tino and Paulie lined up for the Old TImers salute was gold. Got a major lump on my throat when Yogi and Whitey came out.

We were a little frustrated in the 1st when the sox plated two and the yanks came right back to load the bases with none out and got zilch for it (prime culprit was one R Cano believe it or not….he made amends!), but Chavez answered nicely in the 2nd. Didn’t miss A-Rod one iota.

Hughes breezed through the middle innings despite some ornery hitters in that lineup (Adam Dunn is just a mountain of a man in person – the only guy on the field yesterday who could man up was Tanyon Sturtze), which was appreciated by the fans who sat through the early and late shows.

Some nice glove work (Jetes, teix) and some jawing between AJ Pierzynski (who else) and his starting pitcher gave us some additional fireworks.

It’s my one game for the year on my annual excursion back from Australia and it didn’t disappoint. have half a mind to ship up to Boston to catch a bit of that action….

Man, that’s a great picture of Jeets and Cano. That might be the best picture I’ve ever seen of those two. In fact, it is. And as Jazz knows, I’m not prone to exaggeration. (eh-hem)

Axsia seems to be impressed with Qualls’ wOBA with right handers, which I guess is the only reason you get him… *snicker* Pitchers are dropping like flies in Oakland Coliseum or whatever they’re calling it now, so it’s not a big deal if they got him to replace Wade for the time being.
