Boatzilla — that song actually came out in 1942. They knew. Michael Seidel wrote an interesting book, The Streak, in which he gives the story of each game, but then pairs it with events in Europe and the Pacific that were bringing us closer to war. Really fascinating.

Do you think there was something about DiMaggio that lent itself to hitting streaks? I think you could chalk up the one 56 game streak to a great hitter and chance but the 61 game streak for the Seals suggests there was more too it than that.
