Jeter would never want to look uncool. That's what I like about A Rod. He's such a dork. He looks like a model but is secretly a spaz. Jeter is just too cool for school. Jeter is a cat. Unruffled. A Rod is a dopey dog.

[6] You're right. I like that Jeter played it cool and was out; A-Rod panicked and was safe.

[4] In Arod's defense, he didn't have a base to go to with Jeter standing on second, and Cano running to first. At the very end of the play, Jeter stepped off second allowing Arod a place to be.

[3] Definitely. On SportsCenter they used that effect where they have a white line follow the course of action, usually for the flight of a ball or the path an outfielder takes. When A-Rod was done there was just a scribbly mess halfway between first and second. He had no clue what was going on, and the umpires weren't helping.

The interesting thing about the play was that it highlighted the difference between Jeter and A-Rod. Jeter just stood there, knowing the ball had been caught. A-Rod ran around like a chicken with his head cut off. The fact that Jeter was out and A-Rod was safe makes it even better.

Go to the MLB highlights video of the Cespedes dropped ball play. The title of the video is "Must See Jeter and Rodriguez" . At about 1:10 in the video there is a long shot with Arod in shadow. He must have reversed his running seven times between first and second base, finally pleading to the first base umpire for help before running to second, safe by an eyelash. A truly laugh out loud moment, and Arod and Jeter could barely contain themselves.

We know the Yankees tend to wilt in the presence of new pitchers...

26-11 against pitchers they hadn't seen before since the beginning of the 2011 season.
