I've read the books myself and can tell you that I will see on average 3 or 4 different women reading one of them on the trains when I'm going to and from work/gym, etc. I find it funny though that they try to conceal the cover, like it's a dirty little secret! I liked the books. They're it's no different then the Harlequin romance novels, with the swashbuckling pirate and the poor wench who falls for him. Just a little more...well...graphic, let's say.
