Granted, it was September, not late July, but the 2000 team managed to stumble into the playoffs. What's needed is for some role players to step up.

If he is not back healthy for the PS, we aren't going very far.

Let me summon up my best Jim Mora: Playoffs! Playoffs? You talkin'....Playoffs? We just need to win a GAME!

It really hurts because of blowing a 5 runs lead.
But looking at our lineup, our odds of a Win weren't great.
It's not to make excuses, but 10 days ago, we had both ARod and Teix in our lineup. So we have lost our #3 and #4 hitter. That's gonna hurt any team.

Let's hope Teix's injury is minor and has no lingering effects.
The bottom line is we really can't stand another injury to any of our starters.

There were at least 2 plays in LF that Gritner would have made. IbanJones have done a good job filling in, but we are still hurting some from not having Gritner. While ARod's bat hasn't been great this year, for some reason, when he is not in the lineup, we are a different team. If he is not back healthy for the PS, we aren't going very far.

yea that game can really be summed up as horseshit.
this is beginning to feel more like a downward ascent then just a bad blip. obviously that can change pretty quickly, but with the preponderance of al east games the rest of the way, they need to turn it around pretty soon.

Nova is very likeable despite the fact that everyone knows perfectly well he isn't really good.

For a little perspective:

AJ Burnett almost tossed a no-hitter last night.

Josh Beckett is day-to-day after an evening of back spasms.

And <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/01/gore-vidal-dead-author-playwright-intellectual-obituary_n_1726666.html" rel="nofollow">Gore Vidal is dead.</a>

[1] Yes. Perhaps a public rant from Hank or Hal, then a Cashman sit down. Something. Anything.

Remember the old days when The Boss would go ape shit? They would always win at least the next game, as I remember it.

For the record. Girardi, was none too pleased with Ivan in his post game comments.

Horrible game. Good thing the better half wanted to watch gymnastics. o/t A.J. Burnett's line vs. the Cubs. 9 ip 0r 1h 2bb 8k's. Not too shabby. Also, how about a friggin' win tomorrow afternoon for fuck's sake!

It's time for Cashman to hold a team meeting and go all Ozzie Guillen on the boys. Yeah... we have injuries. But the Sox played .500 ball with 3 starters and their 2 Aces playing like shit.

This team needs to show some backbone and man up.
These games are becoming unwatchable.
