[17] it's big of you to find room in your heart for the two time defending championship team that faltered in September with nothing on the line and then turned it on again in October to win their third title in a row and fourth in five years.

[3] & [13] With a $200 million payroll, it's impossible to likable unless they are a) dominant or b) clusterfucked w/ injuries and kids are called up and play over their heads.

There's no such thing as a likable group of massive underachievers.

[13] So the two most unlikable teams are the ones that lost the most games? I think you're onto something there...

Yanks record by month:
13-9
14-14
20-7
13-13
15-13
4-5

Apart from one glorious stretch, we've been watching a team that struggles with .500. Whether or not they survive this race, I'm going to think of them as a .500 team. And I'm not going to be upset when that .500 team's season ends.

[3] Maybe four years. Nothing is worse than that 2008 team with Wilson Betemit getting in seemingly every game, Girardi stonewalling and blatantly lying for the sake of it, and Pavano and Ponson pitching every five days down the stretch

9) To be fair Swisher had two hits and got robbed of a third one. But point taken, they were dogs tonight.

[9] I'm not sure what's wrong with A-Rod, as he has been hitting, but he looked very tight at the plate tonight. He always gets that way when he's working a humungous mouthful of Double Bubble and making strange faces.

Boatzilla, no doubt that the offense was the big culprit tonight. How do you draw eight walks in a game at Fenway Park and score only three runs?

Other than Jeter, it's like no Yankee hitter even showed up tonight.

We'll get 'em tomorrow. I'll put money on it.

Now my big decision is, should I run tonight or go see The Dictator?

[1] OK, then I'll re-post from game thread.

How did losing Mariano hurt D-Rob? Actually, the bullpen has been fantastic for most of the year, including D-Rob. This game was lost by the batters, IMHO. Seven walks and 3 runs? WTF!

It didn't matter if D-Rob held them, this team was never going to score again, unless Jeter it a homer.

This is most unlikeable Yankee team 've seen in years. Let's consider the following:

*Kuroda twice gives up the lead. Not what you expect from your No. 2 starter.

*Cano and Rodriguez, two of your big name stars, go hitless, while Ellsbury and Pedroia combine for SEVEN hits.

*Nunez gets thrown out as a pinch-runner. He has one job, and that's to steal a base. Can't do it.

*The Yankees go 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position.

*Robertson gets beat on his worst pitch, the changeup.

This team needs to go to SUMMER CAMP to learn how to hit with runners in scoring position! They look pathetic whenever a runner reaches second or third. Does anyone on this team even know how to hit a sacrifice fly with a runner on third? It is incredible to me how a team filled with veteran, reputable hitters TIME AFTER TIME AFTER TIME cannot put together good at-bats with runners on. Unbelievable.

I'm re-posting from the game thread:

People always say losing Mariano was not a big deal because Soriano has been so effective..but that's ignoring the fact they still lost an almost guranteed excellent 70 innings from the pen. Now there's a great Soriano to close it but an ineeficitve D-Rob and then the Bullpen Rouxlette Dancers behind him...
