[3] He didn't hustle, and I think it's a chronic flaw in his game. But you are right he had no chance there. I'm sure there are other Yankees that do something similar when they know they are out. But kind of like Curtis Granderson strike outs are becoming more irksome than Derek Jeter's, Cano's frequent lack of hustle stands out like a sore thumb to me. I don't have the camera angles necessary, but I openly wonder how hard he was running on Nunez's double and if he was fired up to score the tying run there or if he just calculated that he should get to third on the double and coasted into the bag.

Maybe when he turns 5, he'll learn to like crusts. I'll pass your comment along and see if it has any effect ;)

I didn't watch the end of the game, haven't been getting enough sleep lately and had to be up early this morning, so I went to sleep with it still 2-1 in the 6th. I KNEW they'd win, somehow.

Now it all comes down to tonight . . .

Nice report, Jon. I love the intro....poetry. Some of those photos are priceless. Isn't it great to see Ichiro having such a good time? What crap organization he had to endure for so long.

Some issues:
1. Robinson Cano failed to hustle? There was no way he could have beat that out. Let's get off the guy's back, like it or not he IS the Yankees' future and easily the best player on the team.

2. Cutting the crusts off. WTF? That is pretty G.D. candy ass, IMHO.

Oakland won. Therefore, (a) those teams play tonight for the AL West title, and (b) if the Yanks win they own the #1 seed. Which may or may not be a blessing, since the Wild Card winner is going to be a better team than the Tigers.

Dodgers eliminated themselves.
