They almost have to have an ulterior motive that would rock the team in a big way if we all knew. That or the people running the team really are insane/incompetent... ...but then, maybe they just decided to bite the bullet and take a few years to rid themselves of their bad contracts, then start from scratch with a solid (and more importantly, fresh) core. I guess that would be acceptable if you're not presently at or well past the average life span or you're impervious to mortality. Hats off to William and the other writers of have gone waist deep into the CBA to crunch the numbers for the rest of us dummies.
