Float On

The Yanks host the Jays for a matinee in the Bronx after a nice win yesterday in Baltimore. All is quiet early this afternoon in the Bronx—these precious last moments of relative peace, the end of summer before everyone comes back and school starts and everything is cooking again, makes Labor Day my favorite weekend of the year in NYC.

The sun is peaking out by mostly it’s overcast. An autumn chill has been welcome the past few days and it will be more than comfortable at the Stadium this afternoon. Maybe our boys can give the Jays a hard time.

Never mind the standings:

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

12 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2016 1:25 pm

Off the wall!
I love love love two-run doubles!

13 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 1:25 pm

frick. it's getting really annoying watching judge strike out it nearly every at-bat. i thought we're trying to win games...

14 rbj   ~  Sep 5, 2016 1:26 pm

Austin joins the party

15 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 1:26 pm

austin powers another double!

wahoo!

16 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2016 1:27 pm

[13] He should recuse himself.

17 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 1:34 pm

[16] he certainly can't uphold the law.

18 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 1:36 pm

hot corner.

19 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2016 1:37 pm

Hah!
WTF was Bautista thinking? It's kind of insulting, honestly.

20 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 1:38 pm

ha! suck it joey.

21 rbj   ~  Sep 5, 2016 1:38 pm

Ha, Joey bat flip

22 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2016 1:40 pm

Wow, all three of us started with "ha". (Only I spelled it different.)

23 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 1:41 pm

jake with another one of those hittie types of thingies.

24 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 1:43 pm

wait. it's quickly 0-2 but it's not judge at the dish. hmmm...

25 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 1:44 pm

i won't judge that at-bat, gary.

but, is that a wad of chew in your maw? no bueno!

26 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 1:48 pm

oreo's came back bigtime and are up by 4. royales leading by a run early in their game...

27 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 1:59 pm

wow. Judge simply cannot put the ball in play. it's a real problem.

28 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:03 pm

I knew it would be useful to have a tall OF some time.

29 rbj   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:04 pm

Phew

30 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:05 pm

Otoh, it's nice not to need to jump to rob a guy of an HR.

31 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:07 pm

Jonathan Hold 'Em

32 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:08 pm

Hmmmm. I don't like throwing at batters, but that was a pretty good inside pitch! This kid has a future.

33 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:09 pm

fuck off, joey joe joe.

34 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:09 pm

[32] it wasn't even close. i like this holder kid. that blake character - not at all.

35 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:11 pm

ah, lost him.

36 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:12 pm

so, the yanks placed hicks on the 15-day DL. which is weird, 'coz it's Sept. so they don't have to do that. huh.

37 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:13 pm

Hm.
But, for the present, still a work-in-progress.

38 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:14 pm

hmmm...

39 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:14 pm

rbj needs to start his next comment with:

hmm..

40 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:15 pm

i still like holder. good arm and composure.

41 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:16 pm

Could he get a Hold for this appearance? I don't actually know what a Hold is, but I think there is such a thing.

42 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:17 pm

Answer: no, you can only get a Hold if you enter in a Save situation.

43 rbj   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:17 pm

Huh, I woke up to this?

44 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:18 pm

fuck.

45 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:19 pm

whoa. brian dozier has two homers today. 37 on the season and a whopping 24 since the all-star break!

46 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:33 pm

this lead is tenuous at best.

47 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:37 pm

this is awesome. there are 4 players ever to hit 30 doubles in 12 seasons:

Stan Musial
Honus Wagner
Tris Speaker
Robinson Cano

48 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:38 pm

coney killin' it in the booth. dellin shoulda pitched in the 7th. i loves it!

49 rbj   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:40 pm

Hmmm

50 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:41 pm

good play.

ooh, a challenge. won't get overturned.

51 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:43 pm

Clippard has been outstanding during this brief stint in pinstripes. Or, as autocorrect reminds me, maybe it's clip art who has been so good.

52 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:45 pm

dozier's homers not enough. royales came back again to take the lead...

53 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:50 pm

I accept that extremely easy stolen base!

54 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:50 pm

heads up steal by chase.

55 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:58 pm

Yeah!
Love me some Dellin.

That's one.

57 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2016 2:59 pm

Oh, man. That one was even better.

Two.

58 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2016 3:00 pm

And that's three!

GG all!

59 rbj   ~  Sep 5, 2016 3:00 pm
