Imagine a game like that on WPIX with local team announcers. You talk about a different era. Sheesh.

The "deep to left" is one of those calls that stick in a guy's head. Like "Yes sir!" when Jack sinks the putt on 17 in the 86 Masters. Iconic moments. If I'm flipping channels and see that game these days on YES, I'll make a point of trying to be near the tube for that moment. I'll even call in my kids over when Bucky steps back into the box, so they can see it. They usually roll their eyes and give me one of those "daaaaaad" things, but it's ok. It's all part of the master plan.

I love watching those old games - and that's one of the best of all. Bucky with the bat choked up 6 inches. Lou fighting the sun in right field. Yaz - as only Yaz could be. Reggie with a deep home run. Munson with a key double. And goose, pulling a Farnsworthy performance where it was definitely give and take whether the Yankees would actually win the game. People remember the Dent home run, but that just gave them the lead. It didn't win the game.

What a great game. 2nd (in my opinion) only to the Aaron Boone game. A walk off, extra innings, game 7 home run has to be tops, especially with the comeback against Pedro and all the crap that happened that series. That's where I truly was a kid again, flopping around the living room like a fool trying not to wake up the rest of the house, silently screaming my friggin lungs out. Staying up will who-knows-when watching all the post game coverage, buzzed beyond belief.

Man, baseball is great.
