Hey Hank, I’m with you. I loved Field of Dreams! That stare of Ray Liotta as Shoeless Joe Jackson was riveting. And the voice of James Earl Jones as a commentator on what Baseball means to ordinary people is totally nostalgic! Oh yeah, and the Yankees are playing great right now! NOW, if we can only beat the Redsox at least one game!!!!

[1] I’ve long ago accepted the fact that I’m in the incredibly small minority, but I love Field of Dreams. Sure, there are some ridiculous moments — “Ray, when did all the ballplayers get here? — but the father-son element carries the whole picture for me. Give it a watch. But of course, you still might hate it.

Hank, great write-up, and glad you gave props to Brendan Fraser. His turn in Bedazzled is worth watching, film snobs be damned. And dont let anyone tell you the original was better. Again, bollocks to snobbery.

Heading back home to the states tomoorrow and got my ticket for the game on the 8th….could that be DJ3k? Am I holding a golden ticket? Perchance to dream…

1) Why not? Perhaps being a father will change your feelings about it. I am not a parent but I saw it a few years ago. It’s easy enough to watch for the first 30 minutes but really, it’s a cloying, sentimental movie. Hard to stomach.

Oh, I absolutely detested “Field of Dreams” when I saw it as a snobby, pretentious film-studying college student..being older (if not wiser but definitely mellower) should I give it a re-watch?
