[23] The research is pretty clear – no such that as a Derby Effect. (Derek Carty at Baseball Prospectus had a piece on this, earlier today IIRC.)

The look on his dad’s face was priceless – and Torre looked pretyy proud, too! This was an awesome Derby to watch!

I went to a bar in East Providence to hear live jazz and they had the derby on. I believe this is the first time I’ve watched it. I have to agree with Weeping: I don’t really love the whole idea of it, but it turns out it’s very satisfying to watch all those orbs sail their parabolic way into the night.

And all the more satisfying, of course, when Rob crushes the Boston competition.
