I think his demeanor rubbed me wrong because he was out in front as the Mets stole the city from the Yankees. He was a tremendous baseball player. It’s crazy that it took him as long as it did to make the HOF.

I did love those Expos teams. Carter-Raines-Dawson, Steve Rogers on the hill…how did they not win a pennant?

He had all that peppy go-go-go. Easy to dislike. But he was a great player. And looking back at the images of him in his prime made me smile and think fondly of him.
