[5] At this point I hope the team trades Hughes, not so much because I am disgusted with him per se (though his performances are often stomach churning), but rather as a forensic experiment, to see if another organization can make something out of the tattered remains of what was once one of the most touted prospects in the game.

I don't think I can take much more of the Yankees' pitching development program.

I don't know how much Hughes' CB and ChangeUp move, but with his straight FB, it seems he really needs a pitch with good movement. Didn't Clemens have a slider which was really his out pitch?

I don't know what it is with Phil, but he seems to me to be a #5 at best, and often worse.

And last night's game....?
Disgusting.
I know no other word for it.
I surely know that I am disgusted.

This game started so late (for me) that I could have watched the last few innings when I got up early this morning. But I didn't even bother, even though the team was riding a five or six game winning streak (I forget). I've said it before when the team was losing, and I'll say it again now that started to win again...the team and the organization simply bore me.

I look every day to see if Jeter got a hit or two, and that's about all. Who knows, maybe I've simply, finally, lost interest in the sport. I sure hope not.

I dozed off for the 9th inning. All that time investment and I had no idea how it played out. It was better not to know. Those Angels are a friggin' nuisance. They're like energetic puppies and Pujols. Although, I never tire of YES flashing over to Scioscia's look of incredulity at a call he doesn't like.

As for Hughes, his stuff is not fooling anyone. His so-called out pitches tail back over the plate and the hitters gobble it up and send it into the stratosphere. He's talented. I want him to be successful, but.....shees! It's the majors!

Although, Phelps gave up the 2-run hit, I like what he did once he stopped nibbling and trusted his stuff more. I have to think that's what Larry Rothschild told him to do when he visited him on the mound.

All in all, they shoulda won. Darn runners in scoring position!
