Not surprised. Good to have had him this year, but he’s superfluous with Mo back. (He’s coming back, right? right?)

Sori will get a 3 year, $30 million contract somewhere.

Bye! Won’t miss him at all. Always felt he was going to turn into Felix Heredia at some point, glad it never happened and he’s taking his talents elsewhere.

At some point, post-Mo, the Yankees, as an intelligent team, are going to begin putting into practice the idea that an effective closer need not be a highly paid superstar.

There have been 90 40-save seasons since 2000.
6 of those are Mo’s.
47 different pitchers.

I hope to hell Mo comes back for one more year, saves 40+ and gets a proper farewell (and another ring?), but if he doesn’t, then rather than start paying $15M to Soriano, Cashman should try to start finding the next couple Storne/Kimbrel/Fuentes…

I’m still stunned that the Yanks lost 6 games in the playoffs, and not one of them was from a Soriano blown save. He did a good job, but not a $60 million/4 years type job….

Only sor-i to see 40+ saves walk out the door (potentially), but I’m never that choked up about guys who act uncomfortable here leaving.
