[7] I am actually almost sort of looking forward to Joba's next appearance now, just to see how you weave it into the story!

[0] "Nobody should really care about that" - I don't, because Mo didn't care. One more save, one less save, Mo is still Mo.

That said, it highlights the problem of the "official scorer", who is usually a local sportswriter or the like. For all the crap we hear elsewhere from the writers' establishment about the "sanctity of statistics" in light of PEDs, somehow this wrinkle is never brought up. Imagine that.

I think the scorer's move was hometown bush league horseshit. He didn't give Mo the save because then Mo would have been leading the league in saves, instead of being tied with Baltimore's own Jim Johnson. Now maybe we can't prove that, but just it being a possibility is enough to bother me.

Thanks everybody. Even though it's ending poorly for Phil, they still need him. That's kind of a weird thing and I hope he pulls it off for all our sakes.

Imagine what we could have done if Joba got in the game though. Hughes may be in the records room but Joba's been targeted by internal affairs.

Jon, for me this rivals your what if Reggie signed with the Mets bizarro universe piece. I mean truly amazing. I had to read it twice to convince myself you'd not just lifted it from some novel and changed the names. That line about the mug, excellent. Just a total pleasure to read - Hammet, Fitsgerald (Pat Hobby stories), Robert Parker, would all be proud.
