5) I could see a little sumthin sumthin on Tex's lip. As they say, "Put some milk on that and the cat will lick it off."

In response to ARod's bonus. I think it is certainly sour grapes by the Yankee brass, and bad blood from last year's unpleasantness and ARod's frivolous papering of law suits certainly fueled some of the fire.

I think the Yankees suspected that ARod was done as an effective player, and here he is rising like a Pheonix from the ashes. Perhaps if they new that he would be mashing and might be well above average as a DH very part time 3rd baseman, they would not have gone for his bonus money.

Additionally, as they knew his home run record was indeed tarnished, nobody envisioned the scorched earth that he left in his wake prior to accepting the year long suspension.

If this team can somehow get over the hump and ARod can carry them, then the Yanks brass better not upset the apple cart. Although I suspect this has to do with his contract for the next 2 years as well.

Who knows? You look at Big Papi and he is still getting it done as a DH with the body of a compulsive eater at a chocolate factory.

I would love to see a lawsuit against the Yankees here. It would put the whole PED era on trial. What would be the Steinbrenners' and Cashman's defense: they were so naive that they traded for a quarter billion dollar contract and then negotiated a $300 million contract on a business worth $2 billion and did no investigation on that player? That doesn't pass the smell test. They knew, and the only warning was "don't get caught."

Hey, is this Hank's first 'start' of the season? Good to see you back.

I know, 'Gregorio Petit'. Sounds like an advisor to the Medici, probably expert in exotic poisons.
I keep hoping for the opportunity to refer to "the two Gregorii".

The thing about the Yankees issue with the bonus on ARod's contract that makes their entire position disingenuous is: ARod admitted to steroid use in 2009, when he played with the Rangers from 2001-2003.

ARod at the time said he hadn't done any PEDs while he has played with the Yankees, regardless of how much bs that all was at the time, the cat was out the bag that ARod had cheated. ARod then gets caught with Tony Bosch, gets suspended for an entire year, and now the Yankees have a problem with ARod's steroid use.

If the Tony Bosch incident had never happened, I still don't get how the Yankees feel they would have been able to market those milestones and say that with a straight face. They would still be getting a ton of negative stuff thrown their way from sports radio, the local sports media, the national media, for trying to capitalize on a milestone that people want to qualify with an asterisk.

I want nothing more than to see the Yankees pay every penny contractually owed to ARod. I keep asking myself, if ARod had (instead) been accused of domestic violence would they have used the same excuse with regard to marketing these homerun milestones? Sports teams are so full of shit when they getting on their moral high ground.
