"The biblical rains out here in Southern California have pushed the spring so far from my mind that I only just now realized that the vernal equinox has come and gone, so how can Opening Day be only four days away?"

Hah ... you think *this* year was biblical? Just wait until you get the next ARkSTORM, like California got in the winter of 1862.
Heh.

Here for Opening Day ... I even subscribed to MLB.tv so I could say I got to see Volpe's first AB.

After the exciting WBC (Japan folks went crazy, of course), I'm not very excited about this season starting without most of our starters.

Maybe this Volpe kid will get me into things. I just hope they give him time to fail and mature.

I have just one question about the rotation - did the Yanks mess up Deivi Garcia that badly that he's not even an option for the 5th starter spot? Can't they just bring Kratz back for a couple of weeks to set him right? I don't know how things went so wrong there but sheesh.

I am thrilled but that said, I hope that neither he nor Peraza (if he also makes it) are sitting on the bench much, because that makes no sense for their development. I also don't see where the consistent playing time comes in for both of them, barring injury or a Gleyber trade, and regardless we all know DJLM will be playing some second some of the time so... Where are all the PAs going to come from?

It's a nice "problem" to have I suppose but I have always appreciated Gleyber and it sucks that these younger kids path forward may mean the end of his path in pinstripes.
