Jim Carroll, a classic New York figure–troubled and talented–passed away on September 11th. I missed it until I saw this fine appreciation by Alex Williams in Sunday’s New York Times [1].
I read The Basketball Diaries [2]years ago and remember liking it very much, especially the parts about the Upper West Side back when it was a rough and tumble neighbhorhood.
