"A New York Treasure" --Village Voice

Yessir, That’s My Baby

at home in her crib for the first time

Amelia Louise Corcoran

Born at 6:10 pm on May 26

6 lbs, 11.8 oz, 19 1/2 inches long

She rocks, as does her mom, both of whom are doing great.

I’ll be a bit preoccupied in the short term, but I’ll do my best to continue to pull my weight around these parts while adjusting to my new lifestyle. If I come up a bit short, at least you know I’ve got a good excuse.

She's beautiful Cliff, all the best to the new family.

(and my wife highly approves of the name, she can't have too many fellow Amelias out there)

Congratulations Cliff and congratulations to Amelia. She and I share a birthday, and it's a great day of the year to be born - a birthday which will, in three of every seven years, take place on a three day weekend.

I think your baby is very cute and I hope she is very nice. My 7 year- old daughter wrote that. Congratulations, Cliff.

Lotsa luck.

17 rbj   ~  May 29, 2009 8:08 am

Congratulations, mom & Cliff! Wonderful news.

And don't worry about falling short at the Banter. That picture is all the excuse you need.

18 Just Fair   ~  May 29, 2009 8:11 am

Congrats, Ciff. And it's the day before mine. : ) Best of luck and sleep.

19 RIYank   ~  May 29, 2009 8:38 am

Huh, my earlier 'congrats!' didn't make it, I wonder what happened.

Anyway, mazal tov, and excellent choice of initials. I think this means the Yankees will be American League Champions this year. (I kind of wish you had named her Wilhelmina Sander Corcoran, but I suppose there may have been other considerations than creation of the proper omen.)

Nosir don't mean maybe.

Congrats Cliff. As a new dad myself I can say definitively your life will never be the same. Enjoy it. It goes by fast.

ps Sleep whenever you can, trust me.

Mazel tov to all three of you. And belatedly to Will (I missed that one!)

Welcome to the Show, Cliff.

Expect to watch some late west coast games dozily, with a baby on your chest and the fear that if you MOVE she'll wake up! Let her absorb home field advantage by osmosis.

22 Shaun P.   ~  May 29, 2009 9:01 am

Congratulations, Cliff! There is nothing in the world like being a dad. It really is indescribable. The lack of sleep and stress and worrying are all worth it, because the love you get back is unlike anything else in the world.

23 BrianLevy2020   ~  May 29, 2009 9:16 am

Congrats!

24 Simone   ~  May 29, 2009 9:17 am

Congratulations to you and your wife, Cliff. Amelia is adorable.

25 Bama Yankee   ~  May 29, 2009 9:31 am

Congratulations on the new addition to your family, Cliff.

Welcome to the world of sleep deprivation. I've been here for about a week. My wife and I adopted a baby girl last Friday who was born on May 8th.

26 JohnnyC   ~  May 29, 2009 9:44 am

Well done! Congrats to you and your better half.

27 Yankee Fan in Boston   ~  May 29, 2009 10:20 am

Congrats, Cliff.

She is adorable. (In case you hadn't noticed.)

28 Hank   ~  May 29, 2009 11:28 am

Congratulations, Cliff. I've only been at the fatherhood thing for nine years, but I promise you this -- they've been the best nine years of my life. Welcome to the club.

29 hoppystone   ~  May 29, 2009 11:42 am

Great news! Best to you and the fam, Cliff. Enjoy every second of it.

Same birthday as Miles, Ronson, and Levon, planet in Saturn (a little Sun Ra there?), and dad is a drummer? Sounds like you got a good groove there!

30 Patrick   ~  May 29, 2009 1:04 pm

Congrats!

31 tommyl   ~  May 29, 2009 2:05 pm

Congrats Cliff! I think I see our first female major league player!

32 williamnyy23   ~  May 29, 2009 2:10 pm

Congrats on your very own Baby Bomber. Eight more and you can start your own team.

33 Will Weiss   ~  May 29, 2009 2:44 pm

[21] Thanks, HCE. Madeline was born Feb. 5, an early reporter to Spring Training. She's already watching Yankee games and crying when Jose Veras takes the mound. I have her trained well.
