Hold That Tiger

One of the least compelling Hot Stove dramas in recent memory has come to a close. According to a report, Johnny Damon has signed a one-year deal with the Tigers.

Cool. I'll be able to see him then.

I guess the drama is now whether he'll be good enough this year to sign a 37 year old deal next year for more than $6 million. I wonder if this is all deferred money $1 million per year starting in 2020 when the present value will have come down to about $2 million...

no deferred money, also no-trade clause, though I imagine he'd wave it to go to a contender

Good luck to him. Hope we won't miss him.

Best album cover ever?

If all you have left is your bat and you're trying to show something near the end of your career, why go play in a pitcher's park? Oh right, because today's players go wherever they get the most money.

Was there an era where players didn't go for the money?

[5] yeah man, that album cover is rather amazing!

small sample size and all, but johnny has hit very well in cavernous comerica.

[9] You'll be long asleep now, but things are good! Got a little jazz-tour guide thing in the works, will let you know how it develops.

7 weeks of spring training is kind of dull..but excited to start reading all the season previews now.

Ilitch is a dweeb. At least Damon gets to play this year instead of doing the trendy OPP wait til May or ASB thing.

[5] Gotta disagree man, any album cover by Ohio Players puts that argument to rest...
