Just Writing my Name and Graffiti on the Wall

Fab Five Freddy G is on the hill for the Yanks tonight. I have a bad feeling about this one, but I’ve been known to be wrong, uh, often. Let’s hope that’s the case and…

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

I'm starting to love Freddy G. And no, it's not because he looks like Jimmy Smits. It's because he's crafty. I think I saw him walk the bases loaded on purpose last time out only to freeze the batter he chose to face with a tough fastball on the outside corner. It was amazing to watch.

[1] Right. The guys in the booth were likening him to El Duque in that regard.

Nicely done, Derek.

4 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 4, 2011 7:12 pm

It's so much cooler watching the ball from the hitter's perspective.

5 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 4, 2011 7:13 pm

Man, nasty pitch.

I hear Jeter had a linedrive hit.

That's two days in a row

7 Mattpat11   ~  May 4, 2011 7:17 pm

[4] I have no idea how you can see anything

8 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 4, 2011 7:18 pm

[7] Hheheh.

9 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 4, 2011 7:20 pm

"This man will not beat us."

10 Mattpat11   ~  May 4, 2011 7:20 pm

[8] I didn't mean that as a joke or insult. My view is totally blocked by the catcher and ump on that camera angle

11 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 4, 2011 7:21 pm

Oooh, beautiful!

Flash called it.

Good work all around, Team!

[10] No, I didn't take it that way. I just found it funny, is all. I don't really have an answer...I guess I see it better out of the pitcher's hand, then it fades a little in flight. I like that because it's more realistic. It sort of forces you to see just how soon the batter has to decide whether to swing or not. The other view somehow makes the flight of the ball easier to track.

Or something like that.

Yankees haven't hit a changeup in three years. It has nothing to do with the shadows

14 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 4, 2011 7:29 pm

[13] No kidding. They don't like to think middle of the field too much, hence that godawful flailing we just saw from Swish.

15 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 4, 2011 7:38 pm

That idiot tried to pull and struck out after three hits to the middle or the other way.

16 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 4, 2011 7:42 pm

Good work, Freddie.

The batters helped you out by not following the approach of the previous hitters. Here's hoping they forget to do that from now on.

17 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 4, 2011 7:46 pm

Hey, it's Brains!

18 Mattpat11   ~  May 4, 2011 7:47 pm

[17] Yay.

19 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 4, 2011 7:56 pm

Fuck.

20 rbj   ~  May 4, 2011 8:00 pm

Crap!

21 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 4, 2011 8:00 pm

Shit.

That was practically all arms, too.

22 Marek   ~  May 4, 2011 8:02 pm

Not feeling good about a comeback here.

23 Mattpat11   ~  May 4, 2011 8:04 pm

The clock may be striking 12 on Freddy

24 Mattpat11   ~  May 4, 2011 8:04 pm

Big Daddy

25 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 4, 2011 8:05 pm

I mean, if you can't bunt, don't bunt.

26 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 4, 2011 8:07 pm

Nicely struck, Teix!

27 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 4, 2011 8:10 pm

Damn. He was off the bag.

28 OldYanksFan   ~  May 4, 2011 8:11 pm

What the hell is wrong with ARod?
HAS HE BEEN SLEEPING OVER JETER'S HOUSE???

29 Mattpat11   ~  May 4, 2011 8:27 pm

Scherzer's an ugly bastard, huh?

30 Just Fair   ~  May 4, 2011 8:27 pm

Gardner sucks.

31 Yankee Mama   ~  May 4, 2011 8:28 pm

The Yanks are so good to putting an end to other team's losing streaks.

32 williamnyy23   ~  May 4, 2011 8:34 pm

You can't win 'em all, but when you are playing struggling teams like the White Sox and Tigers, you'd better come pretty close.

33 OldYanksFan   ~  May 4, 2011 8:34 pm

For all of our talent, this team NEEDS ARod to rake.

34 Alex Belth   ~  May 4, 2011 8:35 pm

28) I'm gueesing Alex is still hurting. He's just not getting good wood on anything.

35 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 4, 2011 8:37 pm

[32] Agreed.

36 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 4, 2011 8:40 pm

And what bothers me is that whenever we lose to this kind of pitcher (as mattpat pointed out, the kind with a good change) it's always, "He pitched really well, silenced the Yankee bats, blah blah blah."

It's never, "Jesus, for once you'd think these major leaguers would adjust to a hittable pitcher pitching a good game." I mean, it seems like they're never held accountable for failing to make adjustments.

37 Mattpat11   ~  May 4, 2011 8:47 pm

Its gotten to the point where you don't even have to be changing up off anything

38 Yankee Mama   ~  May 4, 2011 8:51 pm

Arod hurting?

39 Mattpat11   ~  May 4, 2011 8:52 pm

Hmm.

40 williamnyy23   ~  May 4, 2011 8:55 pm

[38] I am afraid to say it, but it sure seems that way. He was unstoppable before the injury, but now seems to be slow on every swing. The Yankees need Arod to win. If he is compromised, this team takes a dramtic step backward.

41 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 4, 2011 8:57 pm

Garcia's given us a very Andy-like performance.

42 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 4, 2011 8:59 pm

God, this is painful to watch.

43 Mattpat11   ~  May 4, 2011 9:00 pm

I'm losing patience.

44 Mattpat11   ~  May 4, 2011 9:12 pm

Max Scherzer looks like a Bond villain

45 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 4, 2011 9:13 pm

Pfew!

46 Yankee Mama   ~  May 4, 2011 9:13 pm

Why don't they put in Chavez until Arod gets well. Then again, his defense has been decent.

47 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 4, 2011 9:14 pm

Ok, come on, Derek...please, please...

48 OldYanksFan   ~  May 4, 2011 9:14 pm

Was this discussed already?
The Yankees will be without Phil Hughes for another six to eight weeks as team doctors continue to search for the cause of his mysterious loss of velocity.

49 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 4, 2011 9:14 pm

Sigh.

50 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 4, 2011 9:16 pm

Jesus Christ.

51 Mattpat11   ~  May 4, 2011 9:17 pm

Hmm

52 OldYanksFan   ~  May 4, 2011 9:17 pm

We are all WeepingForJeter.

53 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 4, 2011 9:24 pm

Nice little job, Garcia.

54 Mattpat11   ~  May 4, 2011 9:48 pm

Last night was fine.

This game was just an awful showing.

55 Boatzilla   ~  May 4, 2011 9:52 pm

Thankfully, I slept in and missed most of the game.

Seem like Cervelli didn't get the memo that the Yankees suck anymore. Or was his hit a lucky bouncer?

56 Alex Belth   ~  May 4, 2011 10:00 pm

Frustrating. But Scherzer was good.
