Let’s Go Yank-ees!

Rumor via hardballtalk is that Frankie Brains (& everyone else, except One) is going to accept a 50+ game suspension.
For about three and a half years, I lived over the hill from Chavez Ravine in Silver Lake. I could see the lights of Dodger Stadium (along with a beautiful view of downtown L.A.) from my bedroom. When they had fireworks at the Stadium, they would burst at eye level in my driveway. I estimate I went to about 60 games there during my six years in Los Angeles, and to at least one game every time the Yanks were in Anaheim. The internet was just blossoming, and you could get the Yanks radio broadcasts, and an early version of Gameday, which was a lot more access than I had to the Yanks when I first moved west in '96,
Anyway, the Dodgers were my "away" team. I followed them, and in a quiet way, rooted for them -putting the 81 Series, and the rest of the history on the backburner.
I saw the Yanks play a preseason game at Dodger Stadium in 2000 or 2001. The weekend before the season started.
Anyway, there's no point to this rambling post. Just thinking about my time in Los Angeles, and the lasting bond I created with Dodger Stadium. It's a beautiful place to soak in a ballgame. The vistas are bright, wide, and memorable.
Go to Phillippes for a french dip sandwich if you're ever (sort of) in the neighborhood.
[2] i've always loved Dodger Stadium but Ry Cooder's album about how it was built really ruined the dream for me.
Here's to a good series, gents. And may my team win!
I have a great childhood memory of going to Chavez with my old man. I wanted to take him again, a few years, back but my Lake Forest sister recommended against it, suggesting that it's too dangerous anymore, so we opted for the Angels instead.
I had a bad experience taking Dad to the previous Yankee Stadium. Nothing really happened, just the vibe was very scary....all the drunk, neanderthals...posturing.
It actually is frighting to be in that kind of a setting, when you are with and 80+ old man who is unsteady on his feet.
Check out the pic of Mariano and Vin today:

[6] Amazing!
[4] Awfully sporting of you, Weisman.
And great picture!
(But by mistake you wrote that the game starts at 7:10 PM. I mean, that's not even close.)
[9] Ha - it stays light late out here, huh?
Help! My MLB Gameday is automatically givnig me YES instead of Scully..
Puig...that had a phat sound on contact.
[11] There's a CHANGE BROADCASTS button on top of the control bar.
... but I can't find a CHANGE OUTCOMES button.
[13] No button that says that but I found the small TV screen icon and changed it. RIYank, you are the Prof. Higgins to my Eliza Doolittle. Arigato!
Lyle hits it a mile!
[14] I think you did.
[15] Oh, weird. Maybe I have a newer version of the stupid proprietary defective video player? I have the icon and also a CHANGE BROADCASTS button.
Anyway, by George, I really did it, I did it, I did it!
Watching the game on mlbtv. What a pleasure to listen to not only one of the finest broadcasters of all time, but the real joy for me is that he does it solo. A great relief from the normal chatter.
[15] I was watching on NHK, Jazz. They have the YES team. Will switch to the PC soon.
Great throw by Ichiro!
[2] A beautiful stadium, and now the third oldest after Wrigley and Fenway. Always stop at Phillippes (where they claim the invention of the French Dip) before the game to bring in a sandwich, if there was time. I lived in the LA '78-85, '89-92 and '96-'98. Hated the Garvey-Sciosia-Cey Dodgers, but always liked Dusty and Fernando. Really couldn't stand Lasorda, and we all rooted for Howe who pitched his best while snorting.
And, how spoiled we were having Chick Hearn call show time Lakers and Vin with the Dodgers.
[5] I took my 84 year old mother to see the Christmas Tree at Rock Center...big mistake. Likewise, a very frightening experience.
hey folks!
i love late nite west coast games. really wish i could watch it. heard john & suzyn a tiny bit in the car coming home from work, but can't get that station on the radio in the house...
[19] Odd but Scully was on the radio feed via mlb.com but then these two idiots cam on in the 4th inning. Long, excruciating verbal fellatio of Derek Jeter's off-field persona, very little baseball talk.
[25] thelarmis! Art Blakey on the show last week, you would of loved it. But why aren't you watching, you don't the have mlb.com package?
nope, no mlb package or anything of the sort. i'm so rarely around during game times, that it's not really worth it for me...
[27] But that's the beauty of the package. I often miss games as they are on in the morning here. I can get home and cue up from whatever inning I like, also check the highlights of some of my fave players like Papelbon, Pierzynski and Fernando Rodney. You should get it!
i already have enough distractions keeping me from my work and personal life! i really enjoy listening to braves games on the radio.
[29] Braves..Schmaves...
I'm married with wee ones, what's a personal life? :)
Catch you offline for some music updates!
I do not foresee a happy ending to this game.
...for Mr. Weisman! ; )
and there it is.
[31] good call.
[23] I hear ya, very pregnant wife for Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. She felt sick and we had to work out way out. People were absolutely vicious.
Yankee offense? Yawn.
