Back to the Grill Again

loloo

The so-so Yanks host the crappy Sox this weekend in the Bronx.

Hey, Nuno, try not sucking:

Brett Gardner LF
Derek Jeter SS
Jacoby Ellsbury CF
Mark Teixeira 1B
Carlos Beltran DH
Brian McCann C
Brian Roberts 2B
Ichiro Suzuki RF
Kelly Johnson 3B

Just don’t get swept, fellas.

Never mind the horseshit:

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

Have we hit that "Yankees trying to prove some stupid point" phase with Nuno?

2 rbj   ~  Jun 27, 2014 6:13 pm

Tanke a seat My Little Pony.

3 rbj   ~  Jun 27, 2014 6:18 pm

Color me surprised.

4 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 27, 2014 6:26 pm

That'll do

5 rbj   ~  Jun 27, 2014 6:36 pm

Ichi-san!

6 rbj   ~  Jun 27, 2014 6:43 pm

911 I'd like to report a stolen home run

7 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 6:52 pm

Remember when Pony was a dangerous hitter?

8 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 6:55 pm

Mattpat, still hate the shift?

9 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 7:04 pm

Gosh, that's great. I'm so glad Brett bunted him on to second, so he'd be in scoring position when Jeter got a hit.

10 rbj   ~  Jun 27, 2014 7:11 pm

Blergh. Of course.

11 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 27, 2014 7:12 pm

Oh lovely, turned on the game just in time to see the Yanks shit the bases-loaded-one-out bed

12 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 7:17 pm

Man, the Sox make Nuño look good.

I'm concerned that this is going to earn him another start. Or four more. Does Joe understand that these batters suck?

13 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 7:22 pm

Kelly Krush!

14 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 27, 2014 7:22 pm

KJ goes boom!

15 rbj   ~  Jun 27, 2014 7:23 pm

That didn't suck

16 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 27, 2014 7:23 pm

[12] What's your alternative?

17 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 7:24 pm

Whoa.

Can we play the Red Sox thirty times this year, please?

18 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 27, 2014 7:25 pm

POWER SURGE!

19 rbj   ~  Jun 27, 2014 7:26 pm

Dang, missed Brett's shot, letting a dog out

20 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 7:27 pm

[16] Preston Claiborn? Give someone else a shot. Nuño is bad.

21 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 27, 2014 7:33 pm

[20] Claiborn left the game with some sort of shoulder problem 2 nights ago. Not much in the way of options ...

22 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 27, 2014 7:33 pm

4-0, nice.

Bobby Womack, The Poet, dead at age 70. Club in the sky just got a bit more soulful :(

[19] I had to let my pants out watching too much sports.
Hey Alex, this so so team is only 1 game behind in the loss column from the first place team. Hard to believe but if the Yanks pick up a bat and get some pitching back or find some they can win the division. The playoffs, well that's a different story, but a hot team always had a chance.

Let's see what character the team, management, and the fans have for the second half.

24 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 7:40 pm

[21] Hm. I dunno, I'd just like someone else from SWB to get a shot. How about this guy?

25 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 27, 2014 7:43 pm

[22] and Teenie Harris the great soul session guitarist just passed away. Al Green's secret weapon, the riffs on "Take Me to the River" and "Love and Happiness" are all time.

26 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 7:49 pm

Interesting. I wonder why. Seems illogical to me -- Nuño didn't look worse against Ortiz, did he? Maybe they've charted his pitch count.

27 rbj   ~  Jun 27, 2014 7:49 pm

OK, fans not interfering .

Who is this guy and I don't care what they did with Nuno.

28 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 27, 2014 7:51 pm

Hey RI, maybe Nuno is good only against NE teams? Anyway...clap clap for Nuno and I don't mean a STD.

29 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 7:59 pm

Damn that kid covers a lot of outfield.

(Can't hit though.)

30 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:06 pm

Jeez, Dellin is like 20 inches taller than Larry Rothschild.

31 rbj   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:08 pm

Nice snag kid

32 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:10 pm

Eckersley is very impressed with Betances.

33 rbj   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:10 pm

Dellin is dealin'

34 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:16 pm

I would let a Lesser Reliever throw the eighth inning. Because I'd love to have a rested Warren and D-Rob available tomorrow if there are high-leverage ABs.

35 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:17 pm

Sounds like a chance for J. Ramirez.

36 coleman42   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:21 pm

Derek featuring the neck bling tonight

37 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:26 pm

That was a 23-pitch, 1-2-3 inning.

38 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:27 pm

This is the current World Champion baseball team. Hard to believe...

39 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:28 pm

Nope. Warren.

40 rbj   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:29 pm

[34] I guess that's not going to happen.

41 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:32 pm

[40] Not in the binder, I guess ...

42 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:33 pm

Well, it was a good inning for him, anyway.

Definitely no D-Rob for the ninth, right?

43 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:36 pm

[42] joe wants a homestand first game win. Good chance DRob pitches.

44 rbj   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:38 pm

[42] I'm fearing it will be. Joe wants to get this win and not worry about tomorrow and D-Rob hasn't pitched much lately and I can predict what he's going to say.

Now a six run lead. . . Send Warren back out?

45 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:39 pm

And that kid also covers a lot of outfield.

46 rbj   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:39 pm

911 the thief's name is Holt.

47 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:40 pm

Uh. Am I waaaaaay behind, watching NESN? It's a six run lead???

48 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:41 pm

Wow, I am indeed that far behind!

That was great.

49 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:42 pm

McCAN!

Somehow, I'm several minutes behind ...

50 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:42 pm

I would not send Warren back out. With just the one inning under his belt, he can still pitch tomorrow. Send in a scrub.

51 rbj   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:42 pm

Thanks McCann

52 MSM35   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:42 pm

After this win give a listen to Across 110St. in memory of Bobby Womack.

53 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:42 pm

That was a shot! Reached the McCann at McDonalds on Jerome Ave.

54 rbj   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:46 pm

thealarmist is getting married tomorrow, right?

55 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:46 pm

[44] Were you predicting or was it 6-0 when you wrote that?

56 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:48 pm

[54] Right!

57 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:48 pm

THROW. FUCKING. STRIKES.

58 rbj   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:48 pm

Ah Thornton.

59 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:49 pm

THANK. YOU.

60 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:49 pm

I am oddly happy to see Thornton up there, by the way.

61 rbj   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:49 pm

[55] Wishful thinking.

62 rbj   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:50 pm

One down

63 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:51 pm

Not a bad play for a 40-year old.

64 rbj   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:51 pm

Two down

65 rbj   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:52 pm

Three down!

66 RIYank   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:52 pm

Well done, lads, well done.

Easy win, shutout, saved at least enough relief pitching to back up Tanaka-san tomorrow.

67 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:53 pm

Good win, g'nite everybody.

68 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 27, 2014 8:54 pm

Jeter getting through it. Getting embarrassed has to be his worst fear.

Nice Yankee win again the World Champions. And less than three hours, not your pappy's Yanks-Sox game
