That divide when drinking and drugging inspires genius or keeps it away is easily crossed. Who are we to judge?

"It's the holes you leave, emotionally and in the storyline...it's almost like he was so good at it, it sounds unconscious. I don't believe it was, I think he knew what he was doing....I know Townes. He's a smart son of a bitch, man, and he's the coolest guy who ever walked, but he was not unaware of how good he was and what he was doing. I'm sorry, he just wasn't. He KNEW what he was doing.
