So this is why I paid little attention this weekend. Luis looks like he's never been on a mound before.

2 rbj   ~  Sep 26, 2016 6:43 pm

I'm at work until 8.

3 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 26, 2016 6:58 pm

Well that was exciting. Good on Luis and fuck the chickenshit blue jays. Craven assholes.

4 rbj   ~  Sep 26, 2016 7:20 pm

Apparently I missed some fireworks

5 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 26, 2016 7:32 pm

Buzz him again.

6 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 26, 2016 7:47 pm

I watched the Marlins pregame. The version of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”—solo trumpet—was one of the most chilling and stirring I’ve ever heard. It was like a moment out of Ken Burns documentary. I welled up and started crying, I have to admit. That continued watching the rest of the pregame and then seeing Dee Gordon rounding the bases, crying, as he hit a solo home run to start the game. Jeez.

7 Chyll Will   ~  Sep 26, 2016 7:56 pm

[6] Would have liked to have seen that. Another chilling version I'm always mesmerized by is Harpo Marx's version on the harp, which I suspect would have been equally fitting in this circumstance. Sigh, every generation has to carry something like this. Damn it to hell...

8 rbj   ~  Sep 26, 2016 8:04 pm

Dang, he was born in 1992, my second year of law school. Kids these days are getting younger and younger.

9 rbj   ~  Sep 26, 2016 8:05 pm

Hmm, a great play if made

10 rbj   ~  Sep 26, 2016 8:26 pm

Well, they have scored a run, so there's that

11 rbj   ~  Sep 26, 2016 8:49 pm

27 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2016 9:19 pm

i thought layne was up before to start the 9th...

one down, no tag up

28 rbj   ~  Sep 26, 2016 9:20 pm

29 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2016 9:22 pm

31 rbj   ~  Sep 26, 2016 9:24 pm

Modammit

32 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2016 9:24 pm

i honestly don't mind that walk too much. EE can do a lot of damage. navarro can ground into a dp.

hey, blue - where the fuck was that, asshole???

33 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2016 9:24 pm

alright, ump just made up for it : )

34 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2016 9:25 pm

2-run led.

fucking crap.

35 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2016 9:26 pm

not layne's fault. he's doing pretty well and i like him. prolly won't be on the team next season, but i'd be fine with it if he is.

[hey, tommy - don't make me eat my words!]

36 rbj   ~  Sep 26, 2016 9:27 pm

Two down!

37 rbj   ~  Sep 26, 2016 9:28 pm

39 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2016 9:28 pm

40 rbj   ~  Sep 26, 2016 9:30 pm

Gritner! Three down

41 rbj   ~  Sep 26, 2016 9:30 pm

Night all

42 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2016 9:31 pm

Mixed reaction to Big Poopi

45 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 6:19 pm

#20!

46 RIYank   ~  Sep 27, 2016 6:25 pm

Oh, I was expecting the Ruckus post to be the game thread.

Great start!

47 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 6:27 pm

Looks like the comments are off for that one

48 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 6:35 pm

Bogarts is no Jeter

49 RIYank   ~  Sep 27, 2016 6:42 pm

Hey, what will Papi's reception be on Sunday, do you think? Has the booth been talking about it? (I've been watching but not listening.)

50 RIYank   ~  Sep 27, 2016 6:51 pm

Oh good. A play. Good sacrifice, Brett, you are a fine human being.

51 RIYank   ~  Sep 27, 2016 6:54 pm

Price you coward. PITCH!

52 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 6:58 pm

Waste

53 RIYank   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:27 pm

Okay, the fifth is Austin to a good start. Now let's get it doubly Austintaceous...

54 RIYank   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:28 pm

Yes! A couple of Austins on base.

55 RIYank   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:28 pm

Oh. Brett is going to bunt, isn't he. Crud.

56 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:29 pm

Another play

57 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:30 pm

I better not fuck up here

58 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:30 pm

Good

59 RIYank   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:30 pm

Well, it didn't suck. Hm, actually, the Win Expectancy is almost exactly the same before and after the sacrifice. So, okay, I accept that bunt.

And I definitely accept that rbi single!

60 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:30 pm

tuned in for the proposal.

need more runs.

yeah, rbj!

let's go, gary!!!

61 RIYank   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:32 pm

Oh my god. Jeez, that foul ball got into the seats fast. Wow.

62 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:32 pm

[49] i hope Fat Liar is booed something fierce. he deserves it. Big fucking Babi.

63 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:34 pm

bollocks.

64 RIYank   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:34 pm

Oh, damn. He does hit it hard -- too hard that time.

65 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:34 pm

Rats

66 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:39 pm

not ideal. we're gonna pay for that, aren't we?

67 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:39 pm

Saw that error coming. Just eat the ball there

68 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:41 pm

yup, there it is.

69 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:41 pm

wait, was that a-rod reporting on the 'stros game?

70 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:43 pm

Crap

71 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:43 pm

this was so obvious. wheels falling off very fast...

72 RIYank   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:43 pm

Hm, our lead is not long for this world. Ortiz, Betts, Ramirez with the tying runs ISP...

73 RIYank   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:48 pm

Siddown, Papi!

74 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:48 pm

Sit down!

75 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:48 pm

sit the FUCK down, Florida Evans.

asshole.

76 RIYank   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:49 pm

I have to give Joe credit. He didn't IBB Papi, and he's not bringing the infield in for Betts. Both correct, for sure, and both difficult for managers who like to make Moves.

77 RIYank   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:50 pm

I accept that groundout.

78 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:51 pm

still winning. two down...

79 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:51 pm

It's an out

80 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:51 pm

[76] and also for leaving luis in.

81 RIYank   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:53 pm

[80] Oh yeah, and that.

Dang, Luis just got three damn good batters out after getting himself into that ugly situation.

82 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:53 pm

good job, kid.

well, except, for that throw. though, tex would've saved the day and kept the shutout in tact...

83 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:54 pm

Phew, could have been much worse

84 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 7:57 pm

Didn't think we'd see Castro again this season

85 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:00 pm

didi!

got one back : )

86 RIYank   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:01 pm

What an A-Rod home run that was. A selfish solo homer.

Boooo, Didi.

87 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:02 pm

Had to let a dog out, another Yankee run

88 RIYank   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:02 pm

Didi looks especially bad compared with Brett's two sacrifices. Now that's unselfish baseball.

89 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:03 pm

20 for didi. 21 for castro.

amazingly, 20 for gary!!!

90 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:05 pm

[86] was alex reporting for espn before? i believe they said "alex" and then it sounded a bit like him. it was in the studio and they were showing game footage...

91 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:05 pm

wait, there he is again. no, that's not alex's voice. maybe it's alex cora...

92 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:06 pm

fuck. shit. piss. hell.

shoulda kept cessa in. only 86 pitches.

brock holt. what a terrible name. not as bad as markus...

93 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:08 pm

wait, aaron hill. great, another hit.

pretend you're pitching in canada, tommy.

94 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:13 pm

Sit down, kid

95 RIYank   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:13 pm

Got him! Good pitching. Okay, one to go, thanks to Farrell's inability to resist Moves.

96 RIYank   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:14 pm

Oh, yeah, I dunno who was talking -- I've had the sound off for just about the entire game. Very peaceful.

97 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:15 pm

fuck you, midget fucker.

98 RIYank   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:15 pm

Freaking pony. Figures.

ugh. this guy. i can't stand his windup/delivery.

first pitch goes for a hit. of course, fat fuck is up now. here goes the game...

102 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:19 pm

103 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:22 pm

whew.

104 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:23 pm

Big Poopi doesn't get the job done

105 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:30 pm

great at-bat for lettuce.

106 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:31 pm

what horrific announcing by the 4-letter network.

107 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:33 pm

austin powers!

oppo. 2-run lead!!

108 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:34 pm

Ok I'm going to have to get more dogs who need to be let out.

109 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:34 pm

poor announcers. yankees hit a homerun and are now winning. they're quite sad...

110 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:35 pm

nice 0-2 hit by gritner. lotsa hits tonight!

111 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:36 pm

I spend the dollars for Extree Innings, to avoid the four letter network

112 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:39 pm

[112] i have mlb network and can roku the game or watch it online. but it'll be lagging behind the live feed, so i'm just sticking with that for tonight...

113 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:40 pm

feh.

114 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:55 pm

I think we need more runs

115 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 8:55 pm

still leading by two. i'd love some geico runs. this is not dellin proof.

116 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 9:00 pm

lazy bogaerts!

117 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 9:01 pm

go, didi!

118 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 9:01 pm

didi has more homers than walks! 20-19. not easy to do...

119 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 9:06 pm

[118] is that a record?

120 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 9:08 pm

If you had told me Tyler Clippard would be the closer in a game vs. the Red Sox at the end of the season, I'd ask to have some of what you're smoking.

121 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 9:09 pm

[119] if it happened in one game, i imagine RI would say yes. otherwise, probably not. but i don't think it's very common!

1 down.

122 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 9:09 pm

One down.

And does this kid shave?

123 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2016 9:10 pm

Grrr, MLP

124 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 9:11 pm

[120] and if we were told that tanaka would essentially be leading the league in ERA, CC would be doing pretty well (ERA ~4), our middle infield each had 20(+) homers, and gary came up and had 20, i figured we'd be a 90-win playoff bound club.

125 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 9:12 pm

[122] way more than i had to throughout all my 20s!

126 thelarmis   ~  Sep 27, 2016 9:13 pm

sutcliffe: chili davis is the greatest hitting coach ever, because:

- he's on the shit sox

- he tells his hitters to not go to the plate thinking home run.

Big Babi actually whined about Sanchez talking with the pitchers too much during his at-bats. Said it "tricked" him. What a fucking fat bitch!
