Last for Scully, Tex, Papi, Prince and Alex already gone. Who else? Next year is going to feel very different.

2 rbj   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:11 pm

Nice play, Torreyes

3 RIYank   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:16 pm

Good rap, Jacoby.

4 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:18 pm

gary won't finish with a .300 avg.

5 RIYank   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:18 pm

Probably not.

6 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:19 pm

[3] i prefer vocals to be more melismatic.

7 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:22 pm

TEX!!!

8 rbj   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:22 pm

Gonna miss that glove

9 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:24 pm

luis looks great.

here comes Tex to the plate. gonna watch the ceremony later; i imagine yes will have it on their website. also, gonna watch his foul territory shows. there's a you tube page that has all the episodes.

10 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:28 pm

nice, but seemingly muted, ovation/reception for Tex.

11 RIYank   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:30 pm

Hmmmm, melismatic.
A drummer with a dictionary, imagine that.

12 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:35 pm

crap. i go upstairs for food and now we're losing.

scope is a yankee killer. also, bad at spelling.

13 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:36 pm

[11] it's a musical term. i have music dictionaries! also, multiple degrees in classical music. i remember cool terms from college, like "anacrusis" \m/

14 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:46 pm

i hope mac gets to 20 home runs today. for the season, not in today's game. though, that would be really freaking cool and probably some kind of record.

15 RIYank   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:47 pm

Oof.
The clock struck midnight for Sanchez, looks like.

16 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:48 pm

gary is 1 for his last 27. yikes.

17 rbj   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:48 pm

Rats

18 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:48 pm

that swing had to have hurt...

19 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:48 pm

1-28

20 RIYank   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:50 pm

I'll be surprised if any of the Yankees get 20 ABs today. And even if they do, it's pretty unlikely that someone would homer on all 20, isn't it?

21 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:54 pm

the odds are against it, but remember: you can't predict baseball.

22 RIYank   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:55 pm

Wham. Wow. Wieters.

23 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:55 pm

can't come up with the sc(h)oop? i'd retire.

24 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:56 pm

oh, fuck. i saw your comment [22] before i saw the shot. watching mlb.tv via roku, so it's behind...

25 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 2:59 pm

well, all i really have left as far as rooting goes, is...

go giants and whoever is playing the shit sox! (tribe, methinks)

26 rbj   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:05 pm

Gee, I leave to do some chores

27 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:07 pm

ha! he did it!!! go, mac : )

28 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:09 pm

only catchers with 10+ seasons of 20 homers:

yogi, bench, piazza, and mccann.

9 straight for mac.

29 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:10 pm

bench and piazza have 11 seasons of 20...

30 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:10 pm

tex taken out after two outs in the field?

31 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:13 pm

nice play, tex!

32 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:16 pm

i love switch hitter stats. check out Tex's impressive home run prowess among the best of all-time:

-10 seasons w/ 25 (his hero, eddie murray, has 12)
- 9 seasons w/ 30 (tied for most with some guy named mantle)
- 42 multi-homer games (mantle only one with more - 46)
- 14 games w/ homers from both sides (most ever)
- 12 grand slams (eddie had 19)

33 rbj   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:32 pm

Shit

34 RIYank   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:33 pm

Really, two home runs for Matt Wieters? He's really not that good.

35 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:35 pm

well, that didn't work...

36 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:35 pm

[34] both sides of the plate. tex's record is still safe.

37 rbj   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:39 pm

Come on Mark, one last hit.

38 rbj   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:40 pm

39 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:41 pm

40 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:42 pm

41 rbj   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:47 pm

At least Gary's arm is still strong.

42 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:48 pm

43 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:49 pm

44 rbj   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:49 pm

45 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:52 pm

So long, Tex.

Thanks for everything! I'm a big fan.

All the best,
-thelarmis.

46 RIYank   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:54 pm

Sigh.
It's kind of a melancholy season.

47 rbj   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:55 pm

And another would be thief is caught by the sheriff.

48 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:56 pm

49 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 3:57 pm

50 rbj   ~  Oct 2, 2016 4:03 pm

That was high, blue!

51 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 4:09 pm

[50] and outside!

52 rbj   ~  Oct 2, 2016 4:17 pm

Come on Gary, get a hit.

53 rbj   ~  Oct 2, 2016 4:18 pm

58 Ara Just Fair   ~  Oct 2, 2016 4:35 pm

Adios, gang. See y'all round the off season. And the random playoff games. I'll be rooting for an NL team. To hell with all the AL teams. Sigh....

59 rbj   ~  Oct 2, 2016 4:38 pm

[58] Take care. Looks like the Tigers are shitting the bed, I'll go for a Cubs - Indians Whirled Serious.

60 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 4:39 pm

gritner could be the last batter...

61 thelarmis   ~  Oct 2, 2016 4:40 pm

Go Giants! : )

thor vs mad bum will be a good game.

62 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Oct 2, 2016 4:41 pm

Thanks guys for sharing what we must admit was a surprisingly entertaining season. Who would have thought we'd play meaningful games so late. Goodbye Tex, and thanks. Let's go Nats.

63 rbj   ~  Oct 2, 2016 4:41 pm

Sniff.

Scully is still on.

64 rbj   ~  Oct 2, 2016 5:00 pm

Hmm, box score lists Gary at .299

65 RIYank   ~  Oct 2, 2016 5:21 pm

Good evening, and good Autumn and Winter. See youse around!

rbj was clearly Banter MVP this year, by the way -- the voting won't even be close.

66 rbj   ~  Oct 2, 2016 5:29 pm

[65] Thanks! Now I get to sit and stare out the window and wait for Spring

67 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 2, 2016 10:43 pm

I'll watch the game tonight. Right now have on Vin for his last game. Seeing him with Willie Mays...wow.

68 RIYank   ~  Oct 3, 2016 6:35 pm

Oh my god. It's over. There's nothing. The vast emptiness.

rbj? thelarmis? mr ok jazz? shawn? hello???

{hello... hello... hello.......}

69 rbj   ~  Oct 3, 2016 7:51 pm

[68] popping in for a minute, not a fan of the Yankees ending their season early.

70 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 3, 2016 10:38 pm

[68] Sucks, don't it? Thankfully, I have a stack of 68 world music promos to get though..one a night will take through the new year, but then how long til pitchers and catchers report??

71 seamus   ~  Oct 4, 2016 10:15 am

oi. I couldn't watch all weekend but I watched the tapes of the Tex goodbyes. Very touching. Though this year ended early, i'm excited for next. We have a plethora of young talent to tap into. Some tough decisions ahead.
