Steve Canyon and Terry & The Pirates were a couple of Uncle Woodrow's favorites. The brushwork is amazing, as well as his use of black. Says Jack Kirby and Bob Kane were influenced by Milt Caniff; not hard to believe at all. Spaceman Spiff definitely gave a nod to him as well (man I miss Bill Watterson!)

Oh yeh, and Joe Palooka. But I did read comic books a lot, too, after I finished school, newspapers, Life, SI, Look, Post and a book a month. Then I got to watch TV.
