It’s a Set Up

Over at the Yankee Analysts, Michael Eder writes about Joakim Soria in pinstripes.

And where will Hiroki go? He might not be back in New York.

At least the Yanks got 3 1st round picks out of the rejection of their qualifying offers.

I would bet that Hiroki goes back to the Dodgers. He was great for NY, but I think he has more of a comfort level with the Dodgers and will be on a much better team than the one he left when he signed with NY.

The regular season Swish will be missed, but not at what some unlucky club will likely overpay to sign him.

Soriano would be a better bet than Mo next year, but why go 3 more years at Boras prices?

This will be interesting to see, but I think the Yanks will go over market value for 1 year deals on guys who are inclined to take them. maybe Tori Hunter for 15 mil? Pettite for 8 mil?

I think they want to put together a winning team for this year and don't mind shelling out short term dollars.

2014 team might be a bit of a crap team, and when the luxury tax resets, come back in 2015 like gangbusters!!!
