Angels swoop down for the second straight year.

The Rangers / Angels warfare over the last two years has been the best pissing contest in baseball.

That deep lineup just got deeper.

If you can weaken your biggest rival and strengthen your team in the process, you done good.

This is out of the old Yankees playbook. Give the big stars lots of cash and long contracts.

It will be interesting on year 5 of this deal, but for now, it is a good day to be a Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Orange County California Planet Earth Milky Way fan.

George is rolling over in his grave, I'll tell you that.

Now, the Dodgers and Angels (again) are faced with the kind of great expectations the Yanks always deal with: World Series or Bust.

Hamilton, Trout, Trumbo is crazy. Never mind their first baseman. I still have bad vibes about Hamilton's sobriety (which has nothing to do with this contract) but that might not even hurt his playing.

If the Angels could find a sucker as big as they were and get rid of Vernon Wells, this would be a tremendous off season.

It is likely that Trumbo or Bourjos will likely be traded, and those guys are on 1/2 mil contracts, so the Angels might get a nice arm in return for one of those guys. Maybe the Yanks trade them Phelps? (Just kidding)

Dang. So where are the "L.A. teams are trying to buy a championship" wails?

[4] Hamilton, Trout and Pujols are crazy. Trumbo's a mild aphasia.

And the Sox sign Dempster to a 2 year deal.

I don't know if it's up to date, but it looks like the Halos have a payroll just north of $180m.

Well at least the Yanks signed Bobby Wilson as a back up catcher.

[10] Can we get a 'BOOM!' for that signing too?

[2] Maybe more a reaction to the Dodgers 'making it rain' (I just learned what that means, lovely expression)? Either way that's quite a lineup..but where's the pitching for LAA?
