2] The Zen Pencils adaptation was great. I was lucky enough to see it when it came out in August. If you haven't read it, Watterson's commencement address at Kenyon College in 1990, Some Thoughts On the Real World By One Who Glimpsed It and Fled, is priceless.

My classroom library is stocked with Calvin and Hobbes books. "Kids these days" won't stay off my lawn but they make up for it by laughing at these books. : )
