The bread was never as good as the advertising. But the ads were certainly some of the most memorable bits of New Yorkism ever! (perhaps I should say evah?)

Growing up, I had a poster of the Native American on the wall of my room. Great ad campaign. Hated the bread though. I was more of a seeded rye from Zabars type. Or, corn rye from Royal Bakery on 72nd St.

Damn, I'd moider someone for a proper loaf of rye bread..with all the AMAZING food here I don't know why no one has opened a proper deli..
