"A New York Treasure" --Village Voice

Tonight’s the Night For Love Under the Lights!

I really don’t care that the Orioles celebrated their playoff clinching in the Bronx, and I only marginally care that Gleyber Torres continues to remind me of perhaps my favorite Aaron Boone quote of all time. (Name that quote in the comments for extra credit.)

Here’s the one thing I truly care about — the Yankees will clinch tonight. Book it!

"OWWWW MY KNEE! I CAN'T BELIEVE I WAS DUMB ENOUGH TO PLAY PICK UP BASKETBALL IN THE OFFSEASON! NOW THE YANKEES WILL HAVE TO TRADE FOR A GENERATIONAL TALENT THAT WILL GET THEM ONE CHAMPIONSHIP!"- Aaron Boone

is it that quote?

I think I established myself as an OK player.

I cut my dog's walk short so I wouldn't miss Judge's 1st at bat. 3-0 with 6 straight hits. See ya in spring training, Marcus. Wooof.

The thing is, this isn’t on Stroman.
First batter, ground ball to Volpe, safe by a blink.
Second batter, possible DP grounder, just last Volpe.
Third batter, jam shot just over a leaping Volpe.
Fourth batter, routine fly that Domínguez simply missed. Two runs.
Fifth batter, ground ball up the middle. One run.
Sixth batter, ground ball between Torres and Rizzo.
Seventh batter, tailor made double play ball to Chisholm, bobbled, lucky to get an out at second.

It was indeed a trainwreck, but it could’ve been a 1-2-3 inning.

Thank for the play by play. All I wound up seeing was the Dominguez gaffe replay on twitter. I'm glad i missed the inning.

Howdy. Ugh, this isn’t good.

7 rbj   ~  Sep 25, 2024 6:49 pm

Alright, Volpe

8 rbj   ~  Sep 25, 2024 6:55 pm

That, however, is not.

9 rbj   ~  Sep 25, 2024 7:09 pm

Jeez, does this team want the division or not?

10 mhoward120   ~  Sep 25, 2024 7:18 pm

Not

11 rbj   ~  Sep 25, 2024 7:40 pm

See, this is Clay Holmes time. Low leverage situation.

12 rbj   ~  Sep 26, 2024 6:02 pm

Ok, no more puddy-catting around. Go for the jugular tonight

13 rbj   ~  Sep 26, 2024 6:34 pm

Good job, Stanton

14 rbj   ~  Sep 26, 2024 7:22 pm

Jeez, blue

15 rbj   ~  Sep 26, 2024 7:40 pm

Oh fer crying out loud, once again strike three, not a ball, Blue.

16 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 26, 2024 7:42 pm

I'm going to need major freakout control when the post-season begins. Last year was a bizarre hiatus.

17 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 26, 2024 7:56 pm

Hell yeah! Get that man going!

18 rbj   ~  Sep 26, 2024 8:05 pm

Ha, walking the terrorists worked. And some insurance.
Note to Boone, this is not Holmes proof.

19 rbj   ~  Sep 26, 2024 8:08 pm

Verdugo as defensive replacement is acceptable

20 rbj   ~  Sep 26, 2024 8:21 pm

58!

21 rbj   ~  Sep 26, 2024 8:32 pm

Doink.
No Boone, not Holmes proof

22 rbj   ~  Sep 26, 2024 8:46 pm

Ok, Verdugo, you made the post season roster. And double digits!

23 rbj   ~  Sep 26, 2024 8:58 pm

Two.

24 rbj   ~  Sep 26, 2024 9:00 pm

AL East Champions!

25 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 27, 2024 7:10 pm

Jazz can wing it from 3rd. Love to see it.

26 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2024 7:34 pm

MLBN is showing Tigers -WS. Man, the Sox suck at fielding.

27 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2024 8:05 pm

121 losses for the White Sux

28 rbj   ~  Sep 27, 2024 8:07 pm

Cleveland losing

29 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 28, 2024 12:22 pm

100 mph whiffle ball to k Soto.

30 rbj   ~  Sep 28, 2024 12:39 pm

Oh good Skenes out of the game.

31 rbj   ~  Sep 28, 2024 1:21 pm

So the Yankees are only mostly dead today

32 rbj   ~  Sep 28, 2024 2:11 pm

Ouch, on the hand. Just take him out.
Bad bunt

33 rbj   ~  Sep 28, 2024 2:28 pm

No idea what Soto was thinking.

34 rbj   ~  Sep 29, 2024 2:26 pm

Of course a weather delay.

35 rbj   ~  Sep 29, 2024 6:24 pm

Verdugo comes through.

36 rbj   ~  Sep 29, 2024 6:29 pm

Holmes for the save? OK, doesn't matter for seeding or HFA.

the Mets, of course, have to play the DH tomorrow.

37 rbj   ~  Sep 29, 2024 6:32 pm

And he gets the save!

38 RIYank   ~  Sep 30, 2024 7:35 pm

Man, that first game of the double-header today was a classic.
Second one, eh (although must have been very gratifying for Braves fans).

39 Ara Just Fair   ~  Oct 1, 2024 4:24 pm

I HATE the fucking astros. puke.

40 rbj   ~  Oct 1, 2024 4:43 pm

Go Tigers!

41 rbj   ~  Oct 1, 2024 5:44 pm

Start of the playoffs and the last of the local corn on the cob

42 RIYank   ~  Oct 1, 2024 7:54 pm

So far, all the right teams have won.
Not sure why I'm rooting for the Royals, but I am.

43 rbj   ~  Oct 2, 2024 8:04 am

[42] These Orioles are good. Dont want to face them in the playoffs

44 rbj   ~  Oct 2, 2024 4:21 pm

Michael Kay is doing the Tigers Astros series

45 rbj   ~  Oct 2, 2024 4:29 pm

Astros are out!

46 Ara Just Fair   ~  Oct 2, 2024 4:35 pm

Immediate flashback of the Yankees losing to the tigers in the playoffs. 2006, 2011, 2012. I had to look it up. Seems like yesterday. Suck it, astros.

47 RIYank   ~  Oct 2, 2024 5:53 pm

Yep, well, Astros Out is an unmitigated good.

And I liked having Kay call that game too, yeah. Especially the Ibanez game-winning 3-run double.

48 rbj   ~  Oct 2, 2024 6:45 pm

Good. I’d rather face the Royals than the O’s.

49 rbj   ~  Oct 3, 2024 12:31 pm

Happy New Year to all members of the Tribe.

50 RIYank   ~  Oct 4, 2024 6:56 am

A Subway Series is still in play.

51 rbj   ~  Oct 4, 2024 4:46 pm

The marketers are hoping for a Judge - Ohtani series
