Good start

2 coleman42   ~  Jun 9, 2015 6:25 pm

Just noticed Scherzer resembles actor Bradley Cooper.

3 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2015 6:29 pm

Nice, Didi

4 coleman42   ~  Jun 9, 2015 6:29 pm

Nice play Didi, no need to jump.

5 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 9, 2015 6:30 pm

That's the best play I've seen Didi make.

6 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 9, 2015 6:35 pm

I'll be glad to see Nova back. Hot Damn!

7 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 9, 2015 6:45 pm

Don't mean to be Negative Naohiko but how on earth will the last 4 in the lineup hit Scherzer?

8 coleman42   ~  Jun 9, 2015 6:49 pm

[7] "That's why they play the game."

9 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 9, 2015 6:53 pm

(8) True! Summoning my inner Positive Pete now :)

10 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 9, 2015 6:54 pm

AlexB, if you're lurking, those Bobby Murcer tracks were dope. May have to play Bad Whiskey on my podcast.

11 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 9, 2015 6:55 pm

Drew, 7 for his last 56...Positive Pete going away again..

12 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 9, 2015 6:56 pm

I'll stop commenting now.
Well done Drew!

13 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2015 6:56 pm

[7] Like that? Drew!

14 coleman42   ~  Jun 9, 2015 6:57 pm

How about that! That terrible Drew guy did it again. And, he has great range.

15 coleman42   ~  Jun 9, 2015 7:01 pm

Alex not looking good against Max...

16 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2015 7:08 pm

Damn

17 coleman42   ~  Jun 9, 2015 7:21 pm

I believe that Nats hitters are psyched about facing Tanaka. They look so uncomfortable. Except Harper.

18 coleman42   ~  Jun 9, 2015 7:23 pm

64 pitches through 5. Not too shabby.

19 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2015 7:29 pm

You can't predict the draft, Suzyn

20 coleman42   ~  Jun 9, 2015 7:39 pm

Wow, 70 pitches through 6...

21 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2015 7:49 pm

Wow. Odd

22 coleman42   ~  Jun 9, 2015 7:52 pm

Yanks should have challenged that dropped ball. And Tex should have tagged up and scored!!

23 coleman42   ~  Jun 9, 2015 7:55 pm

Even Bryce is intimidated.

24 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2015 7:56 pm

I'll take that out. Thanks, Bryce!

25 coleman42   ~  Jun 9, 2015 7:57 pm

OMG, Bryce is chewin'

26 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2015 7:58 pm

Hey, Team. Just getting in and upset to have missed what has apparently been yet another fabulous performance by Tanaka.

So impressed he can come back without missing a beat.

27 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:02 pm

Phew

28 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:14 pm

Oh, man, off the bat I thought Chase was gonna be the hero. Right at Harper.

29 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:15 pm

Yes!

30 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:15 pm

Yahoo!

Well, can't predict baseball. A bullet to the outfield, caught. A grounder, butchered by Desmond, knocks in a run and knocks out Max.

31 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:15 pm

Wow!

God, was that an ill-advised play!

The second I saw the shortstop swivel to his right I thought something would go wrong.

32 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:16 pm

[30] You sure can't, Suzyn. You sure can't.

33 coleman42   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:16 pm

We'll take that run. Hard to come by tonight.

34 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:18 pm

Hey, Matt Thornton! Hi, Matt.

35 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:18 pm

I am surprised he didn't just go to first. Alex hit that ball very hard.

36 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:18 pm

Okay, now watch, he'll walk McCann.

37 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:19 pm

FAIR BALL!

38 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:19 pm

Or better!

39 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:20 pm

McCann can!

40 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:20 pm

[35] Yeah, especially because shortstops aren't as comfortable throwing in the other direction, and, well, A-Rod doesn't exactly get up the line like a bolt of lightning.

41 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:20 pm

Way to keep those hands in!

42 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:21 pm

The floodgates...

43 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:21 pm

I like this.

44 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:23 pm

A very good inning!

45 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:27 pm

Holy cow.
How TF did he catch that?

46 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:27 pm

Wow, nice catch!

47 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:27 pm

Missed it, had to let a dog in. Was it Flores?

48 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:28 pm

So he makes a great catch and scores the go-ahead run. And two hits off Scherzer, too.

49 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:28 pm

[47] Yeah, Flores, diving.

50 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:29 pm

HoHoHo HeeHeeHee
This Yankees team is making friends with Met fans. I started watching in the fifth (while sippin' something from a fifth). From my limited observation, and what not heard from the Yes crew, a Tanaka was more than equal to Scherzer.
And,the team breaks through with a rally to give Tanaka the chance for the win.

51 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:31 pm

So when I get back who goes away. Flores looks like he belongs.

52 coleman42   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:31 pm

That look on Yunel's face was priceless, after the 98mph over his head.

53 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:34 pm

Back to Dellin the Unhittable. That's good.

[51] Yeah, hm. I mean, they could rotate, or platoon, or something like that. With Flores and Gritner and, uh, you, that's an outfield with a lot of coverage.

54 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:34 pm

Flores' butt! The play of the game.

55 coleman42   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:35 pm

Drew did it!

56 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:35 pm

Man, how on earth did he hit that ball?

That was impressive.

57 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:35 pm

Uh huh.
Stephen Drew.

It's just hard to fathom.

58 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:35 pm

The curious case of Stephen Drew!

59 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:35 pm

Six is the new double digits

60 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:36 pm

Ramon making it awfully hard to send him down.

61 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:36 pm

For the first seven weeks of the season, he was really one of the worst MLB batters I'd ever seen -- aside from pitchers, of course. Now he's blasting the freaking ball. Two 2-homer games in, what, a week??

62 coleman42   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:38 pm

[58] Who dunnit? Stephen Drew! (I always liked him but was afraid to admit it here).

63 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:41 pm

From what I've been seeing lately, how could Drew be batting less than .180?

64 coleman42   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:42 pm

Granderson batting bottom 9, Heston has no hitter. Strikes him out for 2nd out!

65 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:43 pm

HBP to lead of the ninth for Heston.

Two down.

66 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:44 pm

One more strike

67 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:45 pm

Strikeout! No hitter

68 coleman42   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:45 pm

He did it! Never heard of him but congrats.

69 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:46 pm

Ah. Well, so, interesting, maybe it won't be quite so difficult to make a little room for Jacoby...

70 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:47 pm

Met fans should take solace from Tanka's performance tonight. No-Noed, but did not lose ground.

71 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:47 pm

Oh, it was a hit. Officially, anyway.
I refuse to mention Ramon's range.

72 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:48 pm

[69] that was a tough play for Flores, and he already has two outfield assists at home. He can play.

73 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:54 pm

Ugh

74 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:54 pm

At Camden Yards, call-up phenom Eduardo Rodriguez pitched six shut-out innings and a couple of Orioles combined for seven, but the bullpens are cracking a bit. Baltimore scores in the seventh, then Chaz Roe starts the eighth by plunking and then walking Brock Holt. Fortunately the Sox decide to bunt and Rusney Castillo taps into a FC, no advance; now Big Papi watches strike three from Zach Britton for the second out.

Or, hm, maybe not fortunately. Should we be rooting for the Sox in this one? Can't do it.

Also, can we please finish this game now?
Oh, really, now we have to burn Miller in this situation?? Fuck.

75 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:56 pm

Napoli strikes out swinging in Baltimore. 1-0 going to the bottom of the eighth, weak(er) part of the Red Sox' line-up due up in the ninth.

76 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2015 8:57 pm

[74] Yanks are in first, so we don't have to root for those over privileged whiners.

77 coleman42   ~  Jun 9, 2015 9:00 pm

A good night!

78 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 9, 2015 9:00 pm

AMill and the night finisher! Nice exciting win.

79 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2015 9:00 pm

Didi's D FTW!

80 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2015 9:00 pm

Night all!

81 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2015 9:00 pm

[78] :-)

82 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2015 9:18 pm

Sox and Rays lose, both Birds win.
The Jays are on a tear, huh?

83 thelarmis   ~  Jun 9, 2015 11:24 pm

oh man, i missed a thread called "Aces High"

i actually listened to that Iron Maiden song *today* and would've been quoting it the entire game thread!!!

10 ME-109s out of the sky...

84 thelarmis   ~  Jun 9, 2015 11:32 pm

betances shouldn't have been used the other night.

miller shouldn't have been used tonight.

i know GI Joe has a good rep for bullpen use, but this is ridiculous (cousin larry)!
