Would welcome all the productive aspects of Mase in yo Face! once again in NYC, minus the deviant stuff; rest in peace to the O.G. ... Interesting if Yanks are actually transitioning and rebuilding their core through their farm (a big plus) or just showcasing their chips for a trade for veteraniness (not so good). It would make their past two years more palatable and give us something to look forward to, but I remain cynical until proven otherwise about a real change in philosophy.

It does seem like they might be showcasing. Why did they ship Flores down and bring Mase up? -- Flores was playing well, I thought. Showcasing when you're leading the division seems odd.

And away we go.

Funny route. But that ball was smoked.

i thought mase was here for his defense. bad route, kid...

25 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 12, 2015 7:27 pm

Wtf is wrong with Carlos? I keep seeing balls fall in front of him that he seems to have a shot at.

26 thelarmis   ~  Jun 12, 2015 7:28 pm

where was that blue???

27 coleman42   ~  Jun 12, 2015 7:28 pm

Big Mike is human after all.

28 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 12, 2015 7:31 pm

That was just good hitting.

29 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 12, 2015 7:34 pm

Nice catch, kid.

30 coleman42   ~  Jun 12, 2015 7:34 pm

The Kid getting his work in.

31 rbj   ~  Jun 12, 2015 7:52 pm

Flores would have caught that. Time to take Carlos out behind the barn and talk to him about having a rabbit farm . . .

32 rbj   ~  Jun 12, 2015 7:54 pm

Just what the doctor ordered

33 RIYank   ~  Jun 12, 2015 7:56 pm

[11] That's what I've been watching. The first half is a pitcher's duel.

34 coleman42   ~  Jun 12, 2015 8:00 pm

[31] Carlos has been running carefully to the line on anything hit there, ever since he banged into the wall at Tropicana Field last year. He's simply gun shy.

35 rbj   ~  Jun 12, 2015 8:04 pm

Aw, calling the kid back.

36 coleman42   ~  Jun 12, 2015 8:09 pm

Kid Williams. Has a nice ring to it.

37 rbj   ~  Jun 12, 2015 8:14 pm

Dammit!

38 coleman42   ~  Jun 12, 2015 8:17 pm

Game getting out of hand.

39 rbj   ~  Jun 12, 2015 8:19 pm

U.S. - Sweden still nil nil at 63 minutes.

40 rbj   ~  Jun 12, 2015 8:22 pm

Ouch head to head collision, Swedish woman escorted off. Gotta be at least one concussion.

41 coleman42   ~  Jun 12, 2015 8:24 pm

Bench Tex! First error in 109 games!

42 coleman42   ~  Jun 12, 2015 8:25 pm

Night all

43 rbj   ~  Jun 12, 2015 8:29 pm

Bases loaded, no outs in the first and not even one run. Figured this game was doomed from the start.

44 rbj   ~  Jun 12, 2015 8:36 pm

Blergh.

45 jjmerlock   ~  Jun 12, 2015 9:11 pm

Just tuned in (and rapidly tuned right out), but did Girardi beat us twice with one awful game. I mean, how deflating was his mismanagement of the Nats series? Knowing how pivotal it is to start a stretch without your all star closer off with a win, shouldn't Betances have been in for 4 outs? And if he couldn't go 4 outs, isn't that all on Joe for pitching him the game before?

I'm pretty pissed off.

46 jjmerlock   ~  Jun 12, 2015 9:12 pm

Then again, I'm pissed off more often than your average human being. Or even your not average human being.

47 RIYank   ~  Jun 12, 2015 9:24 pm

[46] Indeed you are!
However, you're right, that decision to burn Betances in a blow-out was so bad it's baffling.

Good soccer match, anyway. And the way I figure it (nobody's said this on tv), the draw puts our ladies through to the next round. Australia and Sweden play each other, and there's no way they can both pass us even if by some amazing feat the Nigerians beat us.

48 RIYank   ~  Jun 12, 2015 9:26 pm

Really excellent game in Fenway, by the way. The Red Sox scored five in the first, got a nice 8-4 lead, and then the Blue Jays batted around in the seventh before the hideous Sox bullpen managed to record an out. They put up a nine-spot and lead 13-9 going to the bottom of the ninth.

49 jjmerlock   ~  Jun 12, 2015 9:33 pm

[47] As I said on my facebooks (my English friend calls it that), not the result the USWNT wanted, but probably the result that they needed. Beat Nigeria and go top of the group, which is important.

But still a deeply unsatsifying performance by the women. That's what I was up to before flipping to YES.

50 Chyll Will   ~  Jun 12, 2015 9:45 pm

Showcase, baby! Yanks are gonna make some really shortsighted trades soon! Torii Hunter, please pick up the blue courtesy phone...

51 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 13, 2015 2:32 am

Seems like an ugly game all around.

[49] Hi jj. For some reason I always read your name as jmjbullock..which is funny for so many reasons.

52 jjmerlock   ~  Jun 13, 2015 9:04 pm

I have, on occasion, been compared to J. Jonah Jameson
