Gettin’ Right

Diebs

Life was good from the get go last night as the Yanks scored 9 times in the first 2 innings on their way to a 15-4 win over the hapless Braves. I love Tanaka. Even when he doesn’t have his best stuff, he’s tough, he competes.

Sure am happy for Didi and McCann, too. Maybe the road is good for this act.

Let’s hope there’s more of the same tonight. Maybe lil’ Luis Severino pitches his best game yet. Imagine that.

Never mind the Crunk:

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

Good Lord the Tigers are playing like shit right no. Guy scores from second on a sac fly because CFer thought there were three outs. Blue Jays now up 6-1.

2 thelarmis   ~  Aug 29, 2015 2:04 pm

[1] damn. and the jays' offense is scary.

we must win tonight!

3 MSM35   ~  Aug 29, 2015 2:35 pm

Keep winning and a wild card is assured with the time to set up for the one game. Other teams will have to exhaust themselves and use their pitchers just to get in.
Seven left with the Jays. It should be fun if it's still close.

4 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2015 2:39 pm

Now 9-1

5 thelarmis   ~  Aug 29, 2015 2:46 pm

goddamn. they're gonna get to double digit runs again. it's insane.

6 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2015 2:56 pm

The Tigers biggest achilles heel: lack of a bullpen. Otherwise they'd have a WS title or two.

A-yup, Grand Salami

7 thelarmis   ~  Aug 29, 2015 3:13 pm

holy crap. 15-1. how the fuck do they do that game after game after game?! : /

8 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2015 3:44 pm

That is what is known as an ass-whupping. If only the Yankees can do that to the Braves tonight.

9 thelarmis   ~  Aug 29, 2015 5:39 pm

i'm not going to the game tonight (or tomorrow). headed to the studio now and hope to catch the last coupla innings...

10 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 29, 2015 6:09 pm

22 coleman42   ~  Aug 29, 2015 6:42 pm

23 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2015 6:46 pm

[22] no clue

24 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2015 6:51 pm

One guy is C.J. Nitkowski.

25 thelarmis   ~  Aug 29, 2015 6:51 pm

Are you watchin tv or listening to the radio? Is it on tbs or something? I might know who you're hearing...

26 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2015 6:55 pm

It's Fox Sports One

27 coleman42   ~  Aug 29, 2015 6:55 pm

Fox sports 1

28 thelarmis   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:01 pm

Oh, I wouldn't have a clue. I know some of the local Atlanta announcers...

29 thelarmis   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:02 pm

Not personally, mind you. (I need to be clear, in case RI checks in!)

30 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:04 pm

I like it.

31 MSM35   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:13 pm

It's been a while but isn't about time for Drew to get an rbi?

32 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:20 pm

Least it stayed in the park.

33 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:20 pm

D'oh! Hold 'em here, kid.

34 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:22 pm

Trouble is afoot.

35 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:25 pm

Youngest starting pitcher in the league with The Gas Face. 96! Exciting.

36 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:26 pm

Phew

37 thelarmis   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:28 pm

4 scoreless for the kid. It's time for our lefties to start destroying Wisler.

38 thelarmis   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:30 pm

rbj should steal. Make something happen. Plays!

39 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:30 pm

More runs, please.

40 thelarmis   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:30 pm

Then again, the hip might still be a bit bothersome.

It was a treat watching him so close last night. He plays a great centerfield!

41 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:32 pm

The Braves are getting another new park? Geez.

42 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:34 pm

Crap.

43 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:38 pm

Perfect fastball. 97 on the black. Nasty.

44 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:41 pm

Absolutely beautiful. Same caught looking fastball. Other side of the plate.

45 thelarmis   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:46 pm

Yeah, the new ballpark is a bunch of bollocks. I live in between the Ted and the new one. They lost a lot of old school diehard fans.

46 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:50 pm

Mr. Bird. Nicely done.

47 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:53 pm

Bear down, Kid. One more out.

48 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:53 pm

Hmmm, one more out, Sevvy

49 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:54 pm

Yes!

50 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:54 pm

There ya go!

51 RIYank   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:55 pm

Nice jorb so far by Luis.

Just stopping off at home for a few minutes, though -- I'll miss the end of the game. Looks like a good one.

52 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:58 pm

53 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2015 7:59 pm

Maybin effed that one up good.

54 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:00 pm

Love me some Didi!

55 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:01 pm

Back to back doubles are even better

56 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:01 pm

Sweet base running, too. Damn!, euphorious!

57 thelarmis   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:02 pm

The game is getting better!

58 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:05 pm

For shame, Drew. For shame.

Holy shit. No one knows what's happening. Holy shit.

61 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:07 pm

More boos for the IBB than for A-Rod

62 thelarmis   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:07 pm

Dammit, Drew! That fucking sucked.

63 thelarmis   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:08 pm

Oh, no! A fan fell a coupla years ago. Didn't make it, if I recall...

64 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:08 pm

Gosh, they said somebody fell out of the upper deck. I think I saw someone giving them CPR. How surreal. With the game continuing as if it hadn't happened. Good lord.

65 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:09 pm

Boo, me

66 thelarmis   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:12 pm

Sevy's out. His pitch was manageable, right?

I can't stand the NL...

67 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:12 pm

The announcer's reaction freaked me out. Yikes.

68 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:13 pm

Modammit!

69 thelarmis   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:13 pm

Upper deck and hit the concert behind home plate. Yikes.

Super scary.

70 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:13 pm

[68] He was at 88 pitches I believe.

71 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:16 pm

Oh, boy. Nail biting time.

72 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:17 pm

73 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:19 pm

80 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:29 pm

Sweet, Dellin!

Now how about some insurance?

81 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:29 pm

Style points for Dellin!

82 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:34 pm

Okay, but now I really have to go.

85 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:40 pm

86 thelarmis   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:45 pm

Got that run back!

87 MSM35   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:46 pm

Should have had one more.

88 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:54 pm

That's one way to do it.

89 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 29, 2015 8:55 pm

Nice.

90 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2015 9:01 pm

Dang, thought it was going out

91 MSM35   ~  Aug 29, 2015 9:03 pm

Ryan doubled on a 100mph fastball. Maybe that the secret. Most of the pitchers throw too slow.

92 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2015 9:11 pm

1,2,3 Miller. No fucking around.

93 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2015 9:13 pm

One down

94 thelarmis   ~  Aug 29, 2015 9:13 pm

I'm home watching.

Two more quick outs, then BEER!!

95 thelarmis   ~  Aug 29, 2015 9:14 pm

Good game. Like to see more like it. G'night...

102 MSM35   ~  Aug 29, 2015 9:36 pm

Last thought! Nate tomorrow and then the Sox. Kelly who beat the Mets today will not pitch and Buckholz is out for the season. Time to do some business. Good night !

103 MSM35   ~  Aug 29, 2015 10:05 pm

Sadly the fan who fell died.

104 thelarmis   ~  Aug 30, 2015 2:36 am

[103] super sad. i'm glad we weren't there tonight. my daughter would've been crushed. the man was in his early 60s and apparently fell while heckling A-Rod. oy vey.

terribly sad tragedy. and the 3rd fatality at turner field in the past 7 seasons. maybe it's a good idea they're opening a new ballpark...

my sincerest condolences to the family of the deceased and best wishes to those who were shaken up from witnessing the catastrophe.

i hope new safety measures are implemented at all stadiums immediately.

and to all my banter family - please stay safe and be well!

105 thelarmis   ~  Aug 30, 2015 2:54 am

my family and i had such a wonderful time at the ballpark last night.

it's impossible to compute and accept that such a travesty could happen 24 hours later.

so incredibly sad...

106 thelarmis   ~  Aug 30, 2015 3:15 am

apparently, the guy had been drunk and belligerent all night.

didi watched it all unfold from second base.

soooo sad. : (

107 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Aug 30, 2015 6:04 am

It is shocking when something tragic is witnesses by thousands. My sympathies go out to the victim's family and to those who were nearby the accident; it has to be traumatizing.

Common sense safety measures are always prudent, but there has to be sensitivity for not compromising the fan experience. MLB games were attended by over 73 million people last year. How many were injured or died in the stands, less than 100? It seems safer to attend a ballgame then to walk a city street, ride transit, or drive a car. When you consider that alcohol is served, the hot sun, and general misbehavior by a small minority in crowds, it is remarkable that there aren't more casualties.
