I think a 10-0 home stand is a reasonable request. Happy Labor Day Weekend, all.

2 rbj   ~  Sep 4, 2015 6:13 pm

Harmless double.

3 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 6:25 pm

Mac Attack!

kills speed.

4 coleman42   ~  Sep 4, 2015 6:30 pm

Rays getting good swings off Luis.

5 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 6:31 pm

6 rbj   ~  Sep 4, 2015 6:31 pm

I like this kid.

7 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 4, 2015 6:32 pm

Straight Cheese. Whiff!

8 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 6:36 pm

Base runner.

9 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 4, 2015 6:36 pm

Hell Yeah!

10 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 6:37 pm

Boom!

11 rbj   ~  Sep 4, 2015 6:38 pm

Sweet

12 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 6:42 pm

Wow.
True Outcomes inning!

13 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 6:43 pm

681 homeruns.

[in his career, RI, not this game. that would be some sort of record.]

14 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 6:51 pm

Oh, I was confused there. Just for a second. I mean, it was only the second inning, how could he possibly have that many homers, I was asking myself.

15 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:01 pm

Jeez, he drubaled that one between the fielders.

16 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:04 pm

Uh oh, not a good situation. Although Kiermaier isn't too scary.

17 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:05 pm

Okay.
Nice game so far!

18 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:11 pm

Amazing.
Two hits for us tonight, two homers.

19 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:11 pm

MAC ATTACK!!

20 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:11 pm

Nice! Atta boy, Brian,

21 coleman42   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:12 pm

Lovely long HR, Brian!

22 rbj   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:12 pm

More true outcomeness

23 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:12 pm

Nice shot Bryan

24 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:16 pm

Uh oh, no Jacoby.

25 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:23 pm

So, huh, we have an awfully good pitching staff.
Without CC. I mean, plainly better without CC.

26 rbj   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:25 pm

[25] apparently he's coming back Wednesday. I'd rather he pitch Thursday.

27 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:29 pm

[24] he has an upset stomach. my stomach is upset for a different reason - lack of food. i'm headed out to pick up thai food. be back soon.

please keep the shutout in tact. you can have my fortune cookie.

28 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:30 pm

Ah. Oh well, it didn't look like it was going to be a shutout.

29 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:31 pm

[26] I dunno, I think he's our worst starter, by a significant margin. If he doesn't pitch against Toronto this coming series, that will be okay with me.

30 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:33 pm

[28] no fortune cookie for you!

31 rbj   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:34 pm

[29] isn't Thursday an off day or did I misread the schedule?

32 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:39 pm

Got 'im, whew!

Very good outing.

33 rbj   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:39 pm

There ya go, Sevvy!

34 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:40 pm

Thursday the 10th is the first game in a 4-game set against the Jays. Thursday the 17th is an off day.
But now I better understand your thinking!

[30] Just bring me some basil shrimp, how about that.

35 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:44 pm

Sevvy! What a fortunate thing.

36 rbj   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:46 pm

Ah, thanks. Yes he should come back on the 17th.

37 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:47 pm

The O's got some homers and have a good lead over Toronto now. Sixth inning.

38 rbj   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:48 pm

I wonder what crap announcers Fox is giving us tomorrow

39 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:50 pm

gg, kid.

40 coleman42   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:54 pm

Wilson looks like McCann.

41 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 7:58 pm

Strike this chump the fuck out.
We do not want two base runners for Longoria.

Okay, that will do.

Oh, no mix-n-match?? Justin Wilson gets to pitch to Longoria? Joe knows he's a right-hand hitter, right??

42 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:00 pm

Yikes!

43 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:00 pm

Looking good now.

44 rbj   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:01 pm

Third out!

45 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:03 pm

Russell Martin GIDP to squelch a budding Blue Jay rally.

46 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:04 pm

So now the jig of Beta-Mill to finish the game?

47 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:05 pm

alright, folks - i'm back.

dinner is served!

48 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:05 pm

Oh, yum, thanks -- what did you bring us??

49 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:06 pm

McCann is having a True Outcome game.

50 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:06 pm

Only the good ones so far, of course.

51 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:09 pm

[34] i brought you some spicy basil with chicken instead. and, yes, i did get you a fortune cookie.

52 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:09 pm

[38] i was thinking about that too.

53 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:10 pm

Hey ho, tweet tweet!

54 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:10 pm

bird flew into the second deck!!

55 coleman42   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:10 pm

Lovely Bird!

56 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:11 pm

Just woke up (Hey, it's Saturday). What a beauty. A BEEE-U-TEE!. It could only be ruined by….jingoism at the Stadium. So I tune out, Kate Racist Smith's God Fuck America to say, "hi." (BTW, I am proud to be a U.S. citizen, just don't need to wave a silly flag, or sing a song to show it). Sorry for breaking the rules, Alex.

Man, or man, HRs by McCann and A-Rod. Another gem by Severino. What more could you ask for on an overcast Saturday in Tokyo. Oh, I got it. The girls are gone and left in the house alone to drink coffee and watch the Twin Towers finish it off.

Love you guys.

57 rbj   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:11 pm

And more true outcomeness! Insurance. Maybe another night off for Dellin & Miller?

58 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:11 pm

Man, I was worried he'd strike out for the third time. But Bird flies one!

59 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:12 pm

Word to Big Bird. Kaboom!

60 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:13 pm

should GI Joe have let Sevvy finish the 7th?

61 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:14 pm

[56] Dude, you don't sound like you just woke up.
Maybe too big a lead for the Twin Towers, though.

62 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:15 pm

enny romero will do.

63 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:15 pm

[60] Maybe, not hard to criticize. We want the kid to still be strong in October, right?

64 MSM35   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:16 pm

Coney said the Jays were playing at 135 win pace. Since the '98 Yanks only won 116 I hope the math catches up.

65 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:16 pm

[62] The pitcher isn't the one responsible for that odor, izzi?

66 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:16 pm

mac has scored three times tonight.

67 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:17 pm

[65] oh, door. i mean, dear.

68 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:18 pm

[63] yeah, and it was his first time pitching into the 7th. 91 pitches is a goodly amount too.

69 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:19 pm

[64] I doubt they'll win 59 out of their last 29.

70 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:20 pm

I'm not sure I know anyone who uses the word 'goodly' besides you.

71 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:20 pm

AW on for the 8th. My root beer is Barq's, however.

later, the suds will be from the Highland Brewery in Asheville. their Kashmir 'English Style IPA'

72 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:21 pm

You have been Warrened!

73 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:22 pm

[61] (*J*) Good one.

I did get yelled at by the wife as she was leaving for my daughter's poor marks in gym. I knew I lost the argument when I brought up Stephen Hawking

74 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:22 pm

I'm drinking some Muscato. I must say it's not my favorite. I have to think of what to do with the rest of the bottle (it's bubbly so it won't keep well).

75 rbj   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:23 pm

Wait Hoyt is good company to be in

76 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:23 pm

[70] good, lee.

i'm the goodliest person you know!

it is a word. i think my mom or brother use it. i think it's good to use with amounts.

77 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:23 pm

[73] Awesome.

78 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:23 pm

great inning for adam. just send him out to finish it off.

79 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:24 pm

[70] it's that Southern thing rubbing off on the Queens boy.

80 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:24 pm

The Warren Commission!

81 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:25 pm

Oh, it's definitely a word! It's Elizabethan, Jacobian, Shakespearian, kind of thing, isn't it?

Along those lines, I like "methinks", and I actually use it aloud. I don't think I use it on Bronx Banter, though. It looks a little pretentious when I write it. I assume it sounds pretentious when I say it, too, but I don't notice that.

82 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:25 pm

[79] ha!

ah, i don't think i know anyone down here that uses it either. : )

83 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:26 pm

[76] Do you say, "might-could" too? My buddy from South Carolina used to say that.

84 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:26 pm

Not to jinx anything, but it looks like we'll be picking up a game on the Jays tonight...

85 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:26 pm

[82] well bless your heart.

86 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:27 pm

[81] hmmm, my brother uses "methinks" all the time in emails. that's "prolly" where i get goodly from too.

87 MSM35   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:28 pm

[69] 83% is what he meant I think. Of course you knew that!

88 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:28 pm

[85] big smile! yeah, i hear that one all the time. not much of a fan.

might could, might should...

i really hate "fixin'" and "cutting" lights on/off.

89 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:29 pm

Oh, I'm actually kind of disappointed that we got a non-homer hit!

90 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:29 pm

no, no, no, no, NO!

walks or homeruns. he didn't get the memo.

91 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:30 pm

Shades of Ichiro!

92 rbj   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:30 pm

Line drive in the box score. But I want more runs than hits. Love that oddity

93 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:30 pm

[88] how about, "he needed a killin' " as a defense in court?

94 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:31 pm

[83] see [88]

i don't say any southern-isms.

i still make fun of "yins" from where i went to college in PA!

95 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:31 pm

Oh, I like double modals. Sounded dumb the first time I heard that construction, but now it sounds, hmmm, quaint.

'Methinks' is the only extant verb in English that does not take a subject. Isn't that amazing? I think that's amazing. English is so fucking weird.

96 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:32 pm

[93] i've been here for 19 years and thankfully have never heard that!

97 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:33 pm

[95] i'm with you on the double modals.

i do prefer locrian mode. lydian is really nice.

98 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:35 pm

[95] methinks is a weird verb completely.

99 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:38 pm

well, damn, i'm still hungry.

100 rbj   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:38 pm

[96] heard it when I lived in South Carolina in the late 1990s. Thought it was an actual defense.

Watched a 197os or 80s 60 Minutes show where a NJ town bully was gunned down in broad daylight. No one saw a thing.

[88] Living out here you kind of lose all that stuff because you might be hanging with a Britt, an Ozzie or a German, etc. I try to keep up though. Got my hip-hop buddies. You guys/gals. Taught my British friends, "dude" and my Iranian friend does the fist pump now.

The Japanese change everything and fuck it up. A high-five is "touch."

102 rbj   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:39 pm

One down

103 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:40 pm

I like using methinks. Luis Severino is a Modamn stud methinks. Hot Dam !

104 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:40 pm

[99] Figures. Lydian always leaves you wanting more.
Order some mixtowhatchamacallit next time.

105 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:41 pm

Hm. I guess Warren is more of a one-inning guy.

106 rbj   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:41 pm

Rush roh

107 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:42 pm

Now comes Miller Time.

108 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:42 pm

really? you have to bring in warren to pick up a save?

warren was fine and could've finished this...

109 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:42 pm

Oh ferfuck's sake! 2 more outs.

110 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:43 pm

i'm gonna be at the stadium in less than 3 weeks!

111 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:44 pm

Bummed to burn Miller here.

112 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:45 pm

Warren couldn't do it. Miller time 2 outs.

113 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:45 pm

that's some beautiful pitching.

114 rbj   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:46 pm

Two down

115 RIYank   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:46 pm

Save, Win.

We just don't lose games late, do we? It's been a good season for that.

116 rbj   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:46 pm

Three down!
Night all

117 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:46 pm

4 pitches. SOrta miller lite.

118 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:46 pm

Miller tops Schaffer. I guess we ain't having more than one.

119 thelarmis   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:47 pm

[111] me too, but only 4 pitches and a gorgeous 3-pitch K!

120 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:48 pm

He's the Champagne of Closers.

121 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:48 pm

Sevvy is a gift, he never gets his panties in a twist. He's ready to pitch even higher pressure games.

122 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:52 pm

Great night . Cheers. Y'all come back real soon.

123 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:56 pm

I like this team. We've got great rookies. Great stories: A-Rod's comeback and "redemption". Tex, McCann and Beltran comebacks.Didi staking his claim as the shortstop of the future. Iceman Betances and a new closer who is super chill.

124 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 4, 2015 8:57 pm

Shit, now I have to do yard work or housecleaning or something….Night all.
