Where & When: Special Request (Night Shift)

Some more free time means fulfilling another request (sort of); this one for our fellows way out East and for the insomniacs and late comers in our group, here ya go:

Where & When Request 4 2015Continuing with our theme of no extra clues/plenty of trivia, let us try to find out Where this is and When it was built, and for a bonus, why. I’m about to have dinner myself, so you guys can keep the stakes for yourselves.  Have fun!

I'm going to put on my Scoop Brady hat and try to figure this one without checking the photo credit!

With the US and what looks like the NY State flag that has to be a school or govt office. Not a police station and not a hospital. Looks like it's a French of German building design-wise..I'm going with a school. Obviously shot in winter, that rather ugly utilitarian building on the right means it must be at least the 1960s..but where?? Not in Brooklyn, Manhattan or Staten Island am certain. That leaves Queens or the Bronx..so time to start searching online for these types of buildings in those two boroughs..

Ok, went down the wrong road with schools..those damn flags it has to be some public building, maybe Queens County or central post office? Tax office or court house? ACME Investigations ace detective MR. OK Jazz is getting closer..

Got it! Queens Supreme Court building, Jackson Ave. Quick scroll through Queens public buildings and it came right up. Should have zoomed in on the photo, that would have given it away..I need to get better at this game.

Thanks a lot, Chyll. Fun little diversion while spending Xmas Eve at the office!

No problem! I don't know how many movies and TV shows have been shot here, but I can tell you I've worked on quite a few of them. Small by today's standards, but a rather sturdy court building that's still in use. Other fun facts involved, so if you have time then put them up.
