Spring Cleaning

bagsmidtownposter

What a fun win that was last night. Just when the Yanks were getting aced by an old junk-baller, too. McCann’s homer was tremendous (especially after hitting a homer foul the previous pitch) and Castro’s wasn’t half bad neither—mmm’ belly to belly, as John said.

And then Carlos with the game-winner.

Pretty cool, indeed.

Never mind the Halos:

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

Woot, Carlos go boom

3 rbj   ~  Jun 7, 2016 6:23 pm

Nice brain fart Escobar

4 rbj   ~  Jun 7, 2016 6:24 pm

And we convert into a run

5 RIYank   ~  Jun 7, 2016 6:25 pm

Hey, I already missed good stuff!

6 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 7, 2016 6:34 pm

I love when scioscia's head looks like it is about to explode.

7 rbj   ~  Jun 7, 2016 6:34 pm

[5] best part was seein Scioscia so pissed

8 rbj   ~  Jun 7, 2016 6:39 pm

Ha!

9 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 7, 2016 6:39 pm

[7] His face matches his hat.

10 RIYank   ~  Jun 7, 2016 6:43 pm

Sometimes plays work. I recognize that. Especially when unexpected.

11 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 7, 2016 6:51 pm

Shut 'em down, Mike!

12 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 7, 2016 6:52 pm

God help us. Leiter and Paulie again. The Bobbsey Twins of malapropisms.

Leiter is simply unable to speak in complete sentences.

13 RIYank   ~  Jun 7, 2016 6:54 pm

What, you don't like malapropisms?
I always enjoy a nice derangement of epitaphs.

14 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 7, 2016 6:55 pm

Someone from YES should transcribe what Leiter says during the game and then force him to read it and edit it into standard English for homework. He's a highly paid buffoon but he's not funny.

15 rbj   ~  Jun 7, 2016 6:56 pm

At least he's not Hawk Harrelson

16 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 7, 2016 6:57 pm

[13] Sounds like Casey Stengel.

17 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 7, 2016 6:57 pm

[15] Oh, he's the worst.

18 rbj   ~  Jun 7, 2016 6:58 pm

Starlin! Why, it's a run in three straight innings.

19 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 7, 2016 6:59 pm

Nice!

20 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 7, 2016 7:00 pm

Castro has been a breath of fresh to this dismal season...so far.

21 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 7, 2016 7:01 pm

I am a walking malapropism. It takes a half brilliant mind...
You think therapy would help?
I'm putrified to find out.

22 RIYank   ~  Jun 7, 2016 7:03 pm

[16] It does! Or even Yogi.
(Although that line was actually Mrs. Malaprop herself.)

23 rbj   ~  Jun 7, 2016 7:03 pm

Butt hurt Angels hee hee

24 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 7, 2016 7:04 pm

I'm such a homer. Happy about the team now, and really the Yankees should have swept the O's.

25 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 7, 2016 7:09 pm

Beltran in the field is an asthma attack to watch. I hate jeopardizing the team's best very veteran hitter to injury in the field.

26 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 7, 2016 7:18 pm

[22] Thanks for the link. Hilarious.

27 rbj   ~  Jun 7, 2016 7:18 pm

I remember when the Yankees had three managers in one season

28 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 7, 2016 7:19 pm

That's 3 managers, Al.

29 rbj   ~  Jun 7, 2016 7:34 pm

Nice catch, Didi. But my hips are hurting after that

Modammit!

30 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 7, 2016 7:36 pm

Kay seems to be amazed that people talk to themselves. What planet is he from?

31 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 7, 2016 7:36 pm

Grrrrr. Big Pine leaking sap.

32 RIYank   ~  Jun 7, 2016 7:38 pm

Nothing's easy this year.

33 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 7, 2016 7:42 pm

[32] as a favorite songwriter of mine (Iris DeMent) says, "Easy's getting harder every day".

34 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 7, 2016 7:58 pm

Do we get to see Ghidorah tonight?

35 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 7, 2016 7:59 pm

Geez. Start dinner at 5-0 and come back to 5-3. Shite.

36 rbj   ~  Jun 7, 2016 8:00 pm

Nice, Ref

37 rbj   ~  Jun 7, 2016 8:03 pm

Do not do the wave at the stadium

38 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 7, 2016 8:05 pm

All in all a good stand for Big Pine. Now let's win this thing.

39 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 7, 2016 8:05 pm

What was "Operation Enduring Freedom"?

40 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 7, 2016 8:07 pm

[37] Unless you are in Mexico. ;>)

[38] Yes. Good day at the office.

41 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 7, 2016 8:07 pm

[39] something Aldous Huxley warned us about.

42 rbj   ~  Jun 7, 2016 8:08 pm

[39] Afghanistan, I believe

43 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 7, 2016 8:08 pm

[41] Bwhaaaa! (I really don't know)

44 rbj   ~  Jun 7, 2016 8:08 pm

Just a bit outside.

45 rbj   ~  Jun 7, 2016 8:20 pm

Yay, some insurance

46 RIYank   ~  Jun 7, 2016 8:20 pm

Two-out rbi are what it's all about.

47 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 7, 2016 8:20 pm

Brett Gardner steals second, and Arod drives him in with a single? What year is this?

48 rbj   ~  Jun 7, 2016 8:34 pm

Ah, Betances and Miller

49 rbj   ~  Jun 7, 2016 8:41 pm

One down

50 rbj   ~  Jun 7, 2016 8:42 pm

Urm

51 rbj   ~  Jun 7, 2016 8:43 pm

Two down

52 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 7, 2016 8:44 pm

From afar, my wife thinks Andrew Miller is an alabaster God, and DiDi Gregorious is an ebony God.

53 rbj   ~  Jun 7, 2016 8:44 pm

Three down!

Night all.

54 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 7, 2016 8:46 pm

Nice win, goodnight.

55 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 7, 2016 8:52 pm

[52] They are good looking men, no doubt. I like when Miller pushes his cap back after he gets the save.

Night folks, thanks for the company. Gotta go to work now.

56 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 7, 2016 8:54 pm

Huzzah!

57 iyasu   ~  Jun 8, 2016 9:49 am

Hello Banter,

I was recently in a crew working a Japanese TV shoot in the ballpark on Staten Island where a minor league affiliate of the Yankees play.

http://news.walkerplus.com/article/79418/image448038.html links to a news article about the show, with photos of folks many of you surely have fond memories of.

One of them, a switch-hitter, batted lefty in all his ABs.
Didn't know he was going to be there and I never imagined I'd see him slugging in pinstripes again.
It was a fine day.

58 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2016 6:14 pm

I guess no new thread

Sigh, down 1 - 0 already

59 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2016 6:27 pm

Tied up!

60 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2016 6:30 pm

Untied!

61 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2016 6:39 pm

Modammit. Might be a slugfest game

62 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2016 6:57 pm

Ugh

66 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2016 7:30 pm

Ah, catchers interference

67 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2016 7:34 pm

Dammit

68 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 8, 2016 7:35 pm

Rats. Split second of maybe.

69 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2016 7:37 pm

Aw pity that big mistake James Shield is getting lit up

70 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2016 7:40 pm

Yup, getting slugfesty

71 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2016 8:12 pm

And retied!

72 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2016 8:26 pm

Had to go for a refill, a lead!

73 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2016 8:28 pm

8-5! And Sciocia is not happy. His tears warm my heart

74 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 8, 2016 8:39 pm

Word.

75 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 8, 2016 8:43 pm

Hot damn!

76 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2016 8:43 pm

Want a fourth run so Cerberus isn't used.

77 RIYank   ~  Jun 8, 2016 8:44 pm

Hey, really?
Parmalee?
Cool. Who knew?

78 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2016 8:44 pm

Now Torreyes needs one.

85 RIYank   ~  Jun 8, 2016 9:12 pm

Uh, sorry, Starlin. Wrong communist.

86 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2016 9:16 pm

[85] Don't you just hate autocorrect?

87 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2016 9:19 pm

Come on blue, outside

88 RIYank   ~  Jun 8, 2016 9:20 pm

Wait, what happened to that part of the inning where Yankees run all the way around and cross home plate?? For some reason we skipped that part.

89 RIYank   ~  Jun 8, 2016 9:25 pm

Gawd.
Trouted.

90 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2016 9:26 pm

Most satisfying. Cheers.

95 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 8, 2016 11:36 pm
