Towel Off

MLB: Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees

The Yanks and Rays hit a lot of solo home runs last night in a soporific affair at the Stadium. In the 8th inning, Michael Kay complained about the deadly pace of the game. I listened to the 9th on the radio where John and Suzyn had similar complaints—and they weren’t wrong.

This one ended on a positive note, when Tyler Austin’s solo shot in the bottom of the 9th won it for the Yanks. Final Score: 5-4.

Another win. More fun. Boring or not, we will take it.

I've never had Gatorade poured in my eyes but from Austin's reaction last night it might sting a little. Holy crap. What a win!

The pace of the game never bothers me if they win. I only complain about the pace of the game if they lose.

I get MLB network channel with our cable package. It listed the Yanks game and Phillies (They choose between two games everyday). Of course yesterday they chose the Phils.

I checked back to get a scoring update and they had a live look in just when Austin ended the game on the big fly.

This team is so exciting to watch, and the vets are obviously energized by the youngins. Look at McCann with his 2 dingers. We are getting a lot of production out of catchers this past month.

I hope they can keep this going and catch a wild card. The team that gets hot at this time of year can take it all. While my expectations aren't that high, stranger things have happened.

Go baby bombers!

[3] You gotta spring for the full MLB.com package - they broadcast every Yankeee game unless they are playing one of the local teams (in my case, the Nats and O's) when the game is available on their channels. I use Verizon FIOS, and when I pay for the MLB.com, I get it on my home TV as well as my phone. We have a vacation place in NJ, so when the Yanks are carried on YES it's blacked out on my phone, and our TV there doesn't get YES (so I listen to John And Suzyn)

Of course, the wife complains a bit when she says "do you have to watch EVERY game?" (That's when the phone comes in really handy.

Very exciting to watch the baby bombers! And I can see McCann sliding into the DH spot, or perhaps 1st if Bird is not ready next year.

4) Gary, that is my problem too. I used to have the MLB package from DirecTV. I watched almost every game of the year, but now I am married with 2 small kids, and want to keep it that way. :)

4) McCann could be an invaluable tool for the Yanks going forward. 1st Base, DH and 3rd string catcher?

The Yanks also could use a veteran presence on the team and even though they have Tony Pena and Joe Girardi to help with Gary Sanchez development, McCann could also be a mentor.
