J.B. Number One

TheStacksJimmyB

When I heard that Jimmy Breslin passed away, Todd Drew was the first person I thought of. Man, Todd loved Breslin.

Over at The Stacks, I’ve got a swell Breslin profile—by Ambrose Clancy—for you as well as a fine appreciation by our man Schulian.

"It's a good drinking beer" is a great tagline.

I wonder if he had a hand in writing it. Probably not, but it sounds like he did, which makes it brilliant.

So happy to see Willie with the USA team! Gotta admit, these WBC games have been intense! Finals tomorrow night should be *very* exciting!!!

[3] Yes. Fantastic game today/night. High tension and drama the whole way.

Weird that it was raining in LA. (Sunny and clear in Tokyo today)

Weirder that one of Japan's weakest hitters was the only stud able to put one out of Dodger Stadium.

US vs. PR for all the marbles. 9 pm start means I won't get to stay up for the end.

I'm here for ya, rbj! I used to be anti-WBC, but these games have been *intense* and I've been thoroughly enjoying them. USA is dominating and we're headed to the bottom of the 9th!

Congratulations to team USA. And in 4 years, the USA catcher could be Sanchez with Bird at first.

Let's hope they go back to the original layout of having the tournament every 3 years!
