“Are we there yet, are we there yet?”—Every kid that has ever been in a car.

I didn’t follow the WBC though I understand it was exciting and fun. I caught some highlights and am pleased to see some of the ruckus and beef that came out of it. My trouble with it has everything to do with me. I am just not ready yet for high-octane competition.

Believe it or not, the is the 15th season of Yankee baseball we’ve covered here at the Banter. Of course, I can’t claim to be a reliable source of Yankee anything these days. Just too busy with other projects. And writing about baseball in general—and the Yankees in specific—is just not as interesting to me anymore.

Which is not to say that I don’t enjoy rooting for the team. But what’s happened is that I actively want to know less about the team, their prospects, the trades, the injuries. Yeah, I want to rub the winter out of my eyes, start at Opening Day and check it all out, fresh.

Congrats on keeping the BB alive for so long. I've been following the spring with a surprising amount of interest, particularly looking at the promising Baby Bombers. Hoping for a competitive team this season.

It will help a little when the Yankees become a compelling team to follow once again; this being a year with far more change than usual. At least half the infield will be starting entirely different players than from last Opening Day literally new and hopefully improved, plus one third of the outfield with an eye on more changes along the way. With the strong Spring, there's an eye towards contention, though it really boils down to how the starting pitching shakes out and if they can hold a lead for much of the duration and make the games short. The best thing these guys can do is hustle in the field and stay out of the gossip pages (including the front office) and let the Mets take the back pages while they rebuild on the sly. And no stupid trades for a short-term boost in the standings or ticket sales. Please!

I also am looking forward to the kids. While the players did play competitively the last few years it seems there was something missing, maybe youthful exuberance.

I usually never care about prospects or the WBC, but this year has been different! I still don't care about Spring Training or the games; my only concern their has always been injuries. But we've got some seriously talented prospects and the WBC games were intense and awesome!

Also, River Ave Blues just rules and I can't stop reading it every single day! : )

Hey: has anyone here had trouble logging on from their computer? When I go to sign in, my Firefox is telling me it's an insecure site. Huh. Perhaps I just need to download the new version of it. I've been avoiding that and maybe that's the issue...

Hmm, not having problems here, though I also have avoided the update message... nothing on Google with any red tags either.

[4] Did get that message on my home machine this afternoon. Usually I can stay logged in for two weeks.

Thanks for the reply guys!

[4] Yes, Thelarmis. I got the message just now and have noticed it is happening semi-frequently with my work Mac, which is more up-to-date, rather than my home Mac.

That's all I can tell you.

[4] i've started reading River Ave Blues based on your recs and do enjoy it. But man, I cannot keep up with the comment threads at all so I don't even try. I blink and there are 200 comments! The posts are very excellent though and I don't read every one but i've been keeping up with the daily updates and i'm going to read his top prospects post today.

But i've had no warnings on this site yet. But I haven't logged in in the last couple of days (was already logged in).

[9] seamus, I concur. RAB is a good read, but the comments are way out of control. Looking forward to uin-game comments with all of the BB folks!

Oh, I don't even bother with the comments at RAB. It's awful! It gets pretty rude and immature. The posts are rather impressive though.

I've never logged out of the Banter, but my phone and laptop log me off regularly. I've been worried to lot in from my computer though, and it's MUCH easier for me to type there than on my iPhone 4S!
