"A New York Treasure" --Village Voice

Everybody Loves the Sunshine

Well, goodness that’s the Big Mike Pineda we always hope to see. Yesterday, he was in full control, his best self. David Cone mentioned on the broadcast how much a catcher collaborates with a pitcher and then said that Austin Romine was guiding Big Mike with a deft touch.

Good start, Yanks scored a bunch of runs late, a hell of an Opening Day. Final score: Yanks 8, Rays 1.

Yanks have the night off and it is even warmer and more lovely in New York today than it was yesterday.

Never mind spring fever:

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

Pssst, stupid off day. 1 pm start tomorrow. White Sox Indians knotted at one all, bottom of ninth

Indians win in ten. That's a run off, not a walk off

Not a fan of the fractured schedule for the first 7 games. Not to mention I've missed 2 wins. I've seen mostly suck.

Guess you guys didn't get the schedule motive: early game on Monday, no game on Tuesday, letting the Hebrews celebrate Passover Monday and Tuesday night :)

Blegh, stuck at work, no game for me. And ESPN took down the Tiger's radio station here in Toledo, so I have to rely on a fuzzy signal. I guess it's like the 1930s.

Sucks because I thought he looked good for most of that inning. But almost a case of Pineda there with not finishing on Longoria and Weeks.

Montgomery looked good. For a debut, it seemed solid and really this should be a closer game except for the lack of Yankees hitting up to this point.

one run the complicated way. I was really worried we'd get zero out of that based loaded no out situation. Now a two out hit would be nice...

9 seamus   ~  Apr 12, 2017 2:09 pm

yes! one run game...

I already cringe every time Carter bats. It's the whole all or nothing thing. And my fear of nothing.

mitchell made quick work. Not bad at all.

[10] When you ain't got nothing, ya got nothing to lose Christ! I'm missing another game. Hockey playoffs start tonight, though. whoo-hoo!

A hearing date scheduled by the Judge!

14 seamus   ~  Apr 12, 2017 2:28 pm

Judge btw actually makes me very nervous he's going to hurt someone with a batted ball.

15 seamus   ~  Apr 12, 2017 2:35 pm

Wow that was crazy. I hope weeks and Gardner are ok.

16 seamus   ~  Apr 12, 2017 2:35 pm

If you aren't watching, collision at first base. Both Gardner and weeks hurt.

17 seamus   ~  Apr 12, 2017 2:37 pm

Gardner leaving the game but if I had to guess he's ok. Just shaken. Walked off himself.

18 seamus   ~  Apr 12, 2017 2:38 pm

Weeks leaving game with right shoulder injury. Basically he misplayed a throw into the dirt and reflexively followed it into the baseline just as Gardner was approaching first at full speed. Brutal football level of a collision shoulder to shoulder. And we scored on the play so Yankees lead!

Ellsbury!

One more! 6-3 yanks!

Nice work Clippard!

That little blue dot on MLG game day is REAL nice. Go Yankees.

Kind of scary—in a wonderful way—that Judge has hit 3 homers in the last 3 games and you can't say he's really squared one up and crushed one, even though the one today went 425 feet...on a check swing. Yikes. He's gonna break more bones with foul ball line drives than any Yankee since Sheffie.

Judge's potential is awesome. Its nice to see him putting together better at bats.

25 rbj   ~  Apr 12, 2017 3:43 pm

Oh goody, I get to see the end

26 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 12, 2017 3:44 pm

Sweeeeet.

27 rbj   ~  Apr 12, 2017 3:44 pm

Unfair! Love it.

28 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 12, 2017 4:38 pm

Reason to cheer. Nice.

What's with all these day games?! Oh well, will cue up the reply tonight. This morning I watched the Orioles hit 45 long home runs in two innings against the Sox, was lotso fun.
