Drat

Welp, the strange 2020 season ended on a sour note for the Yanks. Tough noogies for Mr. Chapman once again.

Yanks had fight in them but the loss still smarts. But I can’t pretend this one impacted me that much. I mean, I didn’t watch an entire game all year long until the playoffs, the first time that’s happened since I started following the game in the late ’70s, so I was less emotionally-involved that normal. Still feels weird to me that professional sports are carrying on this year.

Anyhow, I’ll be pulling for the Dodgers and Rays (for all their celebrating, well-deserved as it was, the Rays better not spit the bit now).

Never mind the Blues:

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

Not sure how much of the playoffs I’ll watch.

I guess my order is
Braves
Dodgers
SMOD

And I’m not sold on the order of the latter two.

It would be so on-brand for 2020 if the Astros won it. Spin that MLB! The sadist in me wants that to happen. But I’d rather the Rays or Dodgers take it.

[2] Here, here! Craig Calcaterra was saying the most 2020 Serious would be Astros-Marlins, but Atlanta ended that. A team with a losing record winning this thing... Man. Manfred deserves that, even if we don't.

I'd rather the Dodgers win, but mostly I am just hoping the AL team loses, in completely excruciating fashion. The Rays mocking of the Yanks and us their fans was more than I can take - and in particular bad taste, given that not a single Yankees fan got to attend a home game this year. Otherwise I would be fine with them winning.

As long as the ASStros lose, I'll be happy. Guess I'm favoring the Braves, but to tell the truth, care more about Alex Smith coming back for the Washington Football Team. What a hero he is!

Also, gotta feeling it's so long to Gardy - loved him! Not sure about Tanaka either. The biq question is if Sanchez or Stanton leaves - Sanchez is pretty useless behind the plate, and his hitting is so streaky as to be questionable. Can somebody eat Stanton's contract?

We are losing Hall of Farmers at an alarming rate. Stupid 2020.

[6] I always liked how Joe Morgan was a beast according to analytics and when he announced he seemed pretty anti-analytics. RIP Joe

I haven't watched a single pitch since the Yanks lost. Found out today that Altuve's yips has cost them 2 games. Good.

I watch a little bit, mostly hoping for SMOD.

Well I am glad the Astros lost.

I was sort of hoping the Dodgers would get a chance at revenge.
But, I can't say I'm sorry the Astros lost!

I’m sick and goddamn tired of turning on the Whirled Serious and not seeing Yankees in it.

And no, that’s not some “I’m a Yankee fan so I’m entitled“ thing, despite what the macro on every sportswriter’s keyboard is set up to type.

Every fan of every team should feel that way.

What to do about Gary

[13] How much of the last generation has this team spent tapping its fingers waiting for crap contracts to age off the books? Learn the lesson. Cut bait. If he's going to succeed, he's not going to do it here.

Is Higgy the answer? I dunno. But it seems like yesterday we were wondering how they were going to manage without Mike Stanley and Matt Nokes. Things happen -- if you make room for them to.

Can we get a #3 or #4 strter for Gary? I'd do it. Wouldn't mind letting Stanton go either, if we could find somebody stupid enough to take his contract.Love to see Gardy back on a minimum one year contract if he'd accept it. And give Judge a 6 year contract (look what happened when the Sawks let Betts go!).
