But Of Course

…Of course the Yanks will play the Sox on Tuesday night, on the road.

Sure, the Yanks romped in Boston not so long ago. Be nice if they’ve got one more big win in them but I’m not feeling overly confident, you?

Regardless, a one-game playoff is better than nothing and we’ll take it, like it or not.

I actually feel pretty good, though I would have preferred a Sox-Jays Game 163... I walked around Boston yesterday in a longsleeve Yankees t-shirt and didn't get a peep. Tomorrow I will not do that. :)

Man, ending the season with Fenway celebrating sure would suck. So I hope I am wrong. And who knows? These Yanks are kinda horseshit but they do have some fight in them, give them that.

I'm feeling good. Does that mean I'll be surprised if things go sour? Nothing this team does will ever surprise me, but we've got Gerrit Cole on the higher ground, we've got Stanton and Judge, who are hotter than July. But if you're very superstitious, just cross your fingers and hope. We're gonna be fine.

Great piece in the NYT checking in with Bucky Dent and Ron Guidry about tonight's game -- and great advice from Dent near the end:

"You just gotta be locked in," Dent said. "You gotta be in the moment the whole game. Any time you’re playing in a game like that, you can’t drift off."

In a game of pervasive luck and never more than partial control, that's the one thing you're in charge of: whether or not you keep your goddamned brain plugged in. Whaddya say, fellas? Whaddya say, Boone?
