Barking and Biting

With the steroids mess dominating the sports pages these days, it’s enough for me to just not want to look. Reggie, McGwire, Jeremy Giambi are the lastest names to make the grade (Doc Gooden receives another “F”). Meanwhile, in Florida, Randy Johnson pitched three solid innings for the Yankees yesterday. He even was geared up enough to find the time to bark at the home plate ump some too, as John Harper reports in the Daily News.

1.  Speaking of the steroids mess dominating things. I just wanted to drop a note to let everybody know that I really am the new co-author of this site. I just also happen to be the sole editor of Howard Bryant's upcoming book on the history and influence of steroids in baseball and I've been under the crush of getting it turned in since we've launched this site.

Personally, I'm thrilled about the book, but I'm more than a little disappointed that I've not been able to bring you the game-by-game coverage of the Yankees' spring training that I had hoped. I do hope to spring back into action by the weekend, however.

I didn't want to bother you all with a post to say this (part of the idea of us joining forces is neither of us has to apologize for a brief period of absence), but Alex's entry here was the perfect lead in.
