Mariano Rivera threw a bullpen session yesterday, while Derek Jeter and Bernie Williams sat out with minor injuries, as Mike Mussina was roughed up by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. As Mussina explains, there are some days when you just don’t have it. He told Newsday:
“As you get ready for a new season, some days it feels like you’ve never been out there before. For me, this is about the time when I feel kind of blah,” he said. “It happens. You work through it.”
I wonder if Moose ever has the dream that Nuke LaLoosh had, standing on the mound with nothing more than his jock and garters…n’aaah, probably not.

The Wright article mentions "social scouts." That sounds like a good gig. I wonder who these people are that get to pass judgement on the personal lives of baseball players.
3. Jeez Alex, last year you put the whammy on Javey, and now you've got Moose. That said, Mussina doesn't need anyone to give him bad luck. He seems to have enough of it to go around. I'd say that I'm pulling for him to win 20 games, but part of me feels as if that is just destined not to happen (jinx!).
4. hey, i know this is off-topic, but what do people think about the 4/5 and 4/6 games starting at 1:05pm? i can't figure it out. they're losing advertising revenue from televising during primetime, even if it is on yes, and a lot of fans aren't going to be able to make the games during work hours. any ideas? i for one have tickets i need to sell now, and that depresses me...
5. blue, there seems to be quite a few people in the same boat as you. Personally I don't mind the early start as I had planned on taking that entire week off anyways. I'm more pissed about opening day being opening night. Maybe they don't want to take a chance with the weather and would rather play the Sox during the day when it's a bit warmer. And being as that they have already sold 3 million tickets I doubt they're worried about lost ad revenue. All I can say is, if you sell your tickets, make sure you sell them to Yankee fans.
