And think about how much fun you could have lookin’ it up in spots like these

I just passed this along to my librarian. Hopefully she gets past the first few lines before suing me for sexual harassment. : D

Deep Thought

Will the Kindle end up destroying libraries as we know them?

[4] No. Remember, not everyone can afford to go digital. When the Kindle is as commonplace as the TV, then maybe. Still too many people out there that aren't tech-savvy or are too scared of it.

I have to admit, those libraries makes my favorite book "repository" (The Strand) look like a public bathroom in the Lower East Side. Anyplace that values thinking is gonna have it's library(ies) be one of the nicest buildings in town.

Oh man, I need a cigarette now. . .

City public libraries always get the short end of the stick budgetarily, sadly.

While the Kindle and similar readers are nice, there is still something to the tactile comfort of having a page-turner in one's hands.

Interesting that the photographer's name is Candida Höfer.

SHHHH. Don't tell anyone, but I'm a librarian at the Library of Congress. Nice to see a post that looks like what I see down the hall, and yes, in my opinion, it's heaven.

[9] As someone who frequently applies for and enjoys copyright protection, I must say you ROCK! >;)
